Anonymous Z presents Not So Anonymous Episode 20 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is best known in Saigon, Vietnam, as the creator of the Mad Circus Epic parties. He also established Glassroom, Bahrain's first underground DJ community, bringing together a varied group for parties and after-parties, whether sanctioned or not.
At that time, his mantra was "They attempted to bury us, but they didn't realize we were seeds." He joined the Banana Hustle team, contributing to its tropical atmosphere while developing interests beyond his initial preference for Techno.
His selections encompass Afro, House, Disco and Funk alongside Techno and newer Indie Dance material. His exceptional skills as a DJ led to appearances at underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, Broma and Vitamin D after-parties.
His sets are generally spontaneous and shaped by the energy of the crowd, moving through a range of music genres with bass lines and melodic detail. He also draws on world music and early electronic music for trippy, dark downtempo sets with tribal and South American influences.
Elsewhere, Anonymous Z explores darker but more upbeat Leftfield Electro with Nu Disco, Electroclash, Wave, New Beat and Dark Disco elements. This approach gives the programme room to move between electronic styles without fixing the selection to one format.
Anonymous Z's Not So Anonymous Episode 20 opens with Thomash's Candombe in the Dreems Remix on Turbo, before Sunju Hargun's Andante and A Man Called Adam's Ou Pas in the Carrot Green Remix. The opening places a House Music foundation beside the Nu-Disco character of A Man Called Adam's record.
Back From The Wave's Les Nuits on Nein Records gives way to James Rod's Chamanes Ochenteros on Paper Recordings and Antoine's Télégraphique. Amatteeur's Spiral Dream, in the Modeling Motion Voval Remix for Nein Records, introduces the programme's Indie Dance thread, while James Rod's track brings in Deep House.
Theus Mago's Idealistic Stone on Lumière Noire Records follows with Dionigi's You Look Good Tonight for Quantistic Division. Arkademode and Barko's Robot Heart in the Velax Remix, and Celestino's Sehnsucht in the Heidenreich Remix for Espacio CIELO, retain the tense, club-focused Indie Dance direction.
Guyd's So Far, So Good in the Corresponsal Remix on Esthetique Records adds Dark Disco tones before Badmoiselle and Montessori's Aircraft Reel in the Dombrance Remix for Dogs & Vultures Records. Urexboyfriend's Alert! Alert! in the John Parsley Remix on Sulk Magic then sharpens the pace with Peak Time Techno.
White Magik's Escape the Void on Nein Records returns to Indie Dance, followed by Moo Monster's Wipe The Trance in the Gameboyz Remix. Darlyn Vlys' Machine on Polymath and ChinoSynth's Solana in the Weird Like Us Remix for Veneno sustain the darker electronic focus.
Mufti's The Night on Relish leads into Holographic Planes, Alvaro Cabana and DAmon Jee's Solaris, before Zero Call's Stellar Wind in the Adrian Marth Remix for Emerald & Doreen Records. Pardon Moi's Addiction, remixed by James Rod for the same label, closes the selection with the programme's nocturnal Indie Dance character intact.
