Bicycle Corporation welcomes Singaporean DJ and producer Brendon P for his sixth appearance on Roots 52 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who is also known as 6884. They have released more than 50 tracks across House and Techno subgenres, including Melodic, Deep, Tech and French styles.
Marco began his career in the early nineties as part of the crew behind Afrocentric, House and Techno events such as Urban People. He gained recognition within the Italian music scene and became a sought-after DJ throughout the country.
His work led to a residency at Pacha in Egypt, one of the most widely known clubs in the region. Success in Italy was followed by international bookings around the world.
Hailing from Torino, Italy, Stefano showed an interest in music from an early age and devoted much of his free time to it. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums, while developing an appreciation for Chopin's work and the rhythms of the West African djembe.
Among his varied musical interests, Stefano was particularly drawn to DJs and the work of the person behind the turntables. Those beats were rarely heard on Italian radio at the time, which made the experience especially compelling for him as a teenager.
Creating those sounds and performing them before large audiences could have appeared an unrealistic ambition. Stefano's hard work, dedication and tenacity helped bring Bicycle Corporation into being.
Marco and Stefano have not forgotten their modest beginnings and have revisited some of their earliest tracks. They have also created a Bandcamp page to share that material.

DJ Brendon P real name Brendon Perera is a Singaporean native and prefers the low-profile, lo-fi approach to his work. With a career that’s almost 4 decades young and still growing, Brendon P has a long history of Clubs and Music; starting out in 1980, in the local mobile circuit, and moving on to Clubs a year later.
A trip to New York in 1984, along with visits to clubs like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and Area, introduced him to the New York club scene and the music that evolved into today's house music. Throughout his years as a DJ, both at home and abroad, he explored vast musical backgrounds and maintained a sharp ear and passion for dance music.
In the 1980s, he performed at clubs both locally and internationally with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups. In the 1990s, he had residencies with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX, followed by a 9-year residency at the globally renowned Zouk Club in Singapore. From July 2001 to May 2009, he held a 2-year residency at Kyo and spent 4 and a half years as part of the resident team at the upscale CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands.
His primary music styles currently include House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica. He remains a consistent presence in both the local and international club scenes. He has performed as a DJ in numerous cities worldwide, such as Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong, among others, and has also played at the famous (now closed) Cielo Club in New York.
In June 2010, Brendon independently released his own original material and remixes as a producer. His work has been released on In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG), Eclesia (SG), Issys Groove (UK), Love International (MY), and One With Music (SG).
Due to his strict commitment to music style and sophistication and meticulous attention to detail, it's easy to see why Nicolas Mattar, the owner of New York's 'Cielo' and 'Output', refers to him as a 'taste-master' and one of the top DJs in the area. You can anticipate from him nothing short of a set that crosses vast musical boundaries, encompassing the past, present, and future.
Bicycle Corporation's Roots 52 with Brendon P opens with Ron's Hai Capito O No in the Dan Mumbles Edit before Trance's Hang On It, the DJ Rocca Dubstrumental on Fulltime Production. The Bar-Kays' Move Your Body in the Drop Out Orchestra Moral Edit and Level 42's Starchild in The Reflex Revision add to the opening before the House Music focus takes hold.
Ezirk's Luukah Gajo on And Friends Records introduces Nu-Disco, followed by the unknown artist's Scrutinized Tune, which references Tatsuro Yamashita's Solid Slider. Alexander Robotnick's Love Supreme on Hot Elephant Music then brings the selection back to House Music.
Get Down Edits and Stephen Richards present People Get Up in the Da House Getting Down Version before Prince's Sticky Like Glue appears in Timmy Regisford's Shelter Version on Circuit T Promo. Javonette's Tomorrow leads into Delfonic's Frozen on Toy Tonics, where the programme turns towards Disco.
The S.O.S Band's Take Your Time (Do It Right) arrives in the Late Nite Tuff Guy Edit before Igor Gonya's Didn't Happen But It's Better on And Friends Records. Dionigi's After-hours follows, keeping the disco-led section moving without breaking its measured pace.
Munk's Misterio, remixed by Severino of Horse Meat Disco for Gomma, adds a Deep House shade. J Kriv and The Disco Machine answer with Make It Hot in the J Kriv Meltdown Mix on File Under Disco, returning to the set's Nu-Disco thread.
Marsmobil's Mangia Amore in the Makossa and Megablast Remake on EQ Recordings introduces Acid House, while Pegasvs' Closer To The Sun in the Laroye Remix on Burnin Music raises the pressure through Peak Time Techno.
