Coh-hul presents Play It Loud episode 06 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, DJ agency and music-news platform serving listeners across Asia and worldwide.
Coh-hul is a well-known DJ and producer based in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as an artist on the SSA DJ Agency. His first live show was at a New Year’s Eve party in Northern Thailand in 2015, and he has pursued music for audiences ever since.
His style centres on Tech House and Tech Funk, shaped by Dirtybird, This Ain’t Bristol, Relief, Snatch! and Perfect Driver. He favours funky drum beats, pounding bass lines and futuristic Sci-Fi melodies.
His crowd-reading ability informs when he pushes the energy and when he gives the room space. After living in Saigon for four years, he hosts his own Tech-House nights and creates lively atmospheres for the city’s club audiences.
Listeners may have encountered Coh-hul through one of his many residencies across the city. His best-known party is the monthly AfterDark event, co-hosted with Broma:Not A Bar.
He is a DJ member of the DTOX party brand and was involved with WHAT? Events. His other Ho Chi Minh City appearances include The Lighthouse, Saigon Soul Pool Party, Piu Piu, Upper Saigon, Hideout, Last Call, Indika, Saigon Outcast and Rogue.
Outside Saigon, he has played the Mui Ne Music & Arts Festival and The Rock Island Club’s New Year’s Eve event on Phu Quoc Island. His interest in Dirtybird also took him alone to the Dirtybird Campout festival in the summer of 2017.
While in the United States, he set up a renegade party at Venice Beach in Los Angeles and performed at Stacy’s at Melrose in Phoenix, Arizona. In summer 2018, he played Le Chapiteau in Marseille for a sold-out crowd, in what he regarded as the best set of his career.
At the time of publication, Coh-hul had invested in a studio and begun a new musical mission. His goal was to focus on production and release music through established labels, building on his reputation as an up-and-coming producer and DJ.
Play It Loud showcases Tech House and Tech Funk, following a previous episode dedicated to Country Club Disco and its catalogue. Episode 06 turns to French Electro powerhouse Ed Banger, alongside several of Coh-hul’s own selections.

Ekoboy’s Sweet Lil’ Thing on Superfett Records and Marke (GR)’s Power To The People on Be One Limited establish the Tech House focus before Valentino Khan’s Born Dirty remix of What’s Your Name brings in House Music through Mad Decent.
SYAP’s Push It Push It on Downtown Underground and Kyle Watson’s My Level on REALM Records bring House Music into Bass House territory. Sheepie’s Dance Bitch, Dan Corco’s Disco Fury, Darius Syrossian’s Boujée B and Sven Tasnadi’s Need Nobody keep the club pressure moving between Tech House and House Music.
Lux Groove’s Ride Out on Strangelove Recordings, Skonka’s Little Night on Hood Politics Records and Nick Olivetti & Phineo’s Crazy Fingers on GROOVEMENT RECORDS extend the Tech House run. Simian Mobile Disco’s Sleep Deprivation on Wichita Recordings then shifts the programme towards Indie Dance, with Justice’s Newjack following on Ed Banger Records / Because Music.
Cassius’s Skream remix of I <3 U So on Ed Banger Records returns briefly to House Music before Justice’s Audio, Video, Disco. brings Indie Dance back into focus. Myd’s All Inclusive on Because Music introduces a Mainstage lift, while Busy P’s Mr. Oizo remix of To Protect And Entertain adds Trap and Justice’s Planisphere moves into Electronica.
Mr. Oizo’s Textes on Ed Banger Records / Because Music brings a Bass / Club edge, before Mr Flash’s Motorcycle Boy and DJ Mehdi’s Tunisia Bambaata restore the Indie Dance thread. Mr. Oizo’s Jo and Positif, Myd’s Mainstage cut Bingo and Breakbot’s Translight introduce Nu-Disco within the Ed Banger sequence.
Uffie and Pharrell Williams’ Armand Van Helden remix of Add Suv brings Funky House, while 10lec6’s Quakerz returns to Electronica and Myd’s The Sun settles into Deep House. Afrika Bambaataa & Domenico Torti’s Borussia remix of Radar, Mr. Oizo’s Gay Dentists and Justice’s MSTRKRFT remix of D.A.N.C.E. move through Indie Dance and Dance before Justice’s Waters Of Nazareth intensifies the closing stretch.
Feadz’s AK Theme, Justice’s Ohio and Mr. Oizo & Gaspard Augé’s Polocaust hold the programme in its abrasive Indie Dance mode, followed by Busy P’s Procrastinator. SebastiAn’s Beograd gives the Mainstage sound another turn before Justice’s Safe And Sound, DJ Mehdi’s Pocket Piano, SebastiAn’s Kindercut and Justice’s Phantom Pt. II carry the mix into its final section.
