Anonymous Z presents Not So Anonymous 14 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is known in Saigon, Vietnam, as the founder of Mad Circus Epic parties. He also founded Bahrain's first underground DJ community, Glassroom.
Leading a group of misfits from varied backgrounds, he organised legal and illegal parties and after-parties remembered by the local nightlife. His motto then was "They tried to bury us, but they forgot we were seeds".
After joining the Banana Hustle crew during its tropical period, he helped develop its distinctive vibe. Originally a Techno head, he developed a taste for digging unusual tracks across Afro sounds, House Music, Disco and Funk.
He complements this range with hand-picked Techno and recent Indie Dance selections. His skills as a selector opened the doors to underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, Broma and Vitamin D after-parties.
His non-linear sets are often improvised and shaped by the dance floor, moving through varied styles with tense, groovy basslines and melodic storytelling that plays with emotion. This is a schizophrenic set with an omnipresent 80's Disco vibe loaded with synths.
You get some cheesy and some epic, some unnecessary happiness mixed with darkness. Enjoy the show.
Anonymous Z's Not So Anonymous show 14 opens with Yuji Ohno's Far Away From The Glittering Galaxy before Mugwump's Boutade on Late Night Tales establishes an Indie Dance direction. Joey Negro and Kola Kube's Why, in its Joey Negro Dub Excursion on Z Records, adds a Nu-Disco touch.
Dolle Jolle's Balearic Incarnation, in Todd Terje's Extra Doll Mix for Permanent Vacation, is followed by Patrice Mondon's Pilooski edit of Gratte Ciel on Versatile Records. Azaria's Mufti remix of This Is A Call for Nein Records and William & The Young Five's Jkriv rework of You Turn Me On on Soundway Records keep the Indie Dance thread intact.
Massara's Frico Dub re-edit of Margherita on Le One Night Stand introduces Dub, before Yuksek and Fatnotronic's Bateu on Partyfine moves into Electronica. Demuja's B.O.O.M for Freerange Records, Carl Craig and Pépé Bradock's Angola on Lusafrica, and Kraak & Smaak's My Synths Are The Bomb on Jalapeno Records give the middle section a House Music focus.
Younger Than Me's Massimiliano Pagliara remix of Honey on Bordello A Parigi is followed by Italoconnection featuring Alessandra Contini's Voyage. Wolfram's Automatic Dub for Public Possession and Modular Project's Freshback on hfn Music lead to Mano Negra's Zombies In Miami Cosmic Edit of Mad House on RCA Records, a Hard Fist selection.
The Sunburst Band's Joey Negro Mix of Rough Times precedes Moon Rocket's Funk U! on Moon Rocket Music, bringing in Dance Music. Todd Terje's Delorean Dynamite on Olsen Records returns the programme to Indie Dance before Andy Bros' Coming To You on ATLANT.
Andy Bros' Coming To You leaves space for Limahl's Never Ending Story in its 12' Dance Mix on Parlophone UK. That final soundtrack selection closes the set with the 80's sensibility identified in Anonymous Z's own description.
