Bicycle Corporation presents Roots episode 045 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, a promoter and a music-news platform connecting audiences in Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, India, South Korea and across Asia.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian collaboration between DJ and producer Marco MEI and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have released more than 50 tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno.
Marco began his musical path as a DJ and producer in the early 1990s, organising nights throughout Italy with the Urban People collective. That work brought him a residency at Pacha and led to DJ bookings internationally.
Raised in Torino, Stefano developed his musical abilities through classical piano, percussion and drums. His early listening ranged from Chopin to West African djembes, before electronic music drew him towards DJing and helped form Bicycle Corporation.
Marco and Stefano have revisited some of their earlier tracks and established a Bandcamp page to distribute them. Their work also draws on Funk, Disco, Soul, Afrobeat, Electro, Rare Groove, Hip Hop and Afrocentric influences beyond their electronic releases.
Roots provides space for the records and genres that inform Bicycle Corporation's sound. The programme moves away from a club-only focus to explore the musical foundations behind their wider catalogue.

Bicycle Corporation's Roots episode 045 opens with Andy Narell's La Samba on Hip Pocket Records, bringing Fusion into the selection. Azymuth's Tamborim, Cuíca, Ganzá, Berimbau on WM Brazil and Coaty De Oliveira's Capoeira De Santana on Arion establish a Brazilian focus.
John Gibbs With The Jam Band's Jouvert on TEC Records (2) introduces Disco, followed by Richie Havens' R&B recording Going Back To My Roots on Rhino/Elektra. Sam-Jam's Dance And Chant on Les Disques Martin (2) adds a reedit before Tony Allen's Get Together (Folamour In Harmony Remix) on Comet brings in House Music.
Trouble Funk's The Beat B on TF Records places Go-Go alongside the earlier rhythmic material. Gang's KKK on Best Record Italy then turns towards Indie Dance, while Rational Youth's Le Meilleur Des Mondes on Universal Music Canada - Catalog (Domestic) adds an Alternative edge.
Malcolm McLaren and The Bootzilla Orchestra's Deep In Vogue on Epic introduces Nu-Disco in the later section. Boogie Freaks' The Mean Green on Tasty Recordings keeps that direction in view with another dancefloor-oriented selection.
Donald Byrd's Thank You For Funking Up My Life on Warner Music Group - X5 Music Group brings Jazz Music into the closing stretch. George Benson's Shark Bite on Warner Bros. Records follows with another jazz recording.
Johnny Hammond closes the programme with Fantasy on Juno, returning to Nu-Disco for the final record. The ending draws the programme's varied source material back towards a club-facing finish without losing its roots-focused perspective.
