Ezmun presents Cooking With Gas 13, a two-hour Tech House special on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Cooking With Gas is Ezmun's weekly dose of percussive, groovy and dark sounds. Episode 13 brings together two hours of rolling Tech House that influenced him greatly.
Ezmun is originally from Cumbria in the United Kingdom and relocated to Vietnam to pursue his musical ambitions as a DJ and producer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he temporarily relocated to Melbourne, where he planned a weekly show focused on his favourite sounds.
Like many DJs, Ezmun started in his bedroom before playing house parties for close friends and peers. By 2019, he had made his club breakthrough with appearances in Manchester, Hanoi, Laos and Ho Chi Minh City.
Drawn to the dark, sparse atmosphere of minimal half-time 140s and the lively clatter of percussive leftfield bass, he uses both as peaks and troughs within an energetic techno setting. At the time, he was building recognition in Vietnam's underground scene and hoped to return there.
While in Melbourne, he planned to explore the Melbourne underground scene and develop his production skills ahead of releasing his own music the following year. Cooking With Gas also gave him space to showcase friends and undiscovered DJs while examining the genres he loves in greater detail.
Ezmun's Cooking With Gas 13 Tech House special opens with Audiojack's Interlude on Tsuba and Ramit's Hearty Dancing on Nervous Records. David Pher's The Wanted on Gruuv and Oxia's Olivier Giacomotto remix of Give A Feeling on Material establish the rolling Tech House focus.
Unders and Drrie's 3 Days In Kazachstan on Kisu Music introduces a firmer Peak Time Techno edge. Manuel De La Mare and Luigi Rocca's Sacha Cawa remix of Fly on Heinz Music, Do Santos' I Want To Change on Musique Records and Kleo Tremsch's Resurrection on Anorrack Records return the set to Tech House.
Louie Cut's Deboche on Strict Recordings brings in Minimal pressure before Maison Sky's Glamour on Rinse shifts towards UK Garage. Philip Bader's Happy on Material and Piero Pirupa's Pussy Makes You Blind on Intacto restore the set's Tech House pulse.
Matan Caspi's Nothing Is Free on Definitive Recordings keeps the groove taut, followed by Vlada Asanin and Alex Denne's Sixteen on Musak Records. Anton Bajen's Toygun remix of Slow Motion on Cyclic Records closes this central stretch with the same Tech House intent.
Joe's Tail Lift on Hessle Audio breaks the pattern with Breaks, while Bakongo's Bopster on Roska Kicks & Snares brings in Bass / Club weight. DJ QU's Picazón on Strength Music Recordings then turns to House Music.
Dani Sbert's Industrial Gain on ZYX adds Deep Tech House tension before Psyk's Throb on Enemy Records returns to Peak Time Techno. CRAE's Lost My Mind At 11 on Finder Records provides a forceful final statement in that mode.
