El Brujo presents the first hour of El Brujo and the Wild Bunch episode 06, with guest Kev Willis, on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
El Brujo, whose real name is Robert Milanesi, was born in Italy in 1964 and developed an early attachment to music. In 1994, he became known as one of the founding figures of Bologna’s underground rave scene, and his first official release was 2008’s Warriors on Milan label Open Legs.
His label, Jambalay Records, launched at its opening party at Club Geminis in Ibiza harbour, Spain, in 2010. The label and El Brujo then burst onto the worldwide scene when the legendary Maya Jane Coles first charted his work in her February Chart 2011, including ‘Mozambique’, made with Big Mojo and released physically on CD as Nutty Fellas Are Go.
In January 2019, his release, Plastic Dreams, originally released on FrameWorxxx, reached number 33 in the Beatport Hard Techno Top 100. El Brujo’s work takes a raw approach across the genres he explores, with an interstellar character central to his productions. At the time of this episode, the programme was set to introduce a monthly guest DJ from his Wild Bunch of Techno producers and artists.
Guest DJ (second hour) Kev Willis.
This weeks guest DJ (second hour) is Kev Willis, Kev Willis is a Techno DJ and producer from Stoke On Trent, in the North of England. He has started to DJ and experience music production when he was a teenager and became embroiled in Techno Music.
From 2004 to 2009 he presented his own shows on Techno FM (an online radio station based in Canada). His shows were monthly, and after a while they became more popular, achieving more listeners from all around the world and this gave him better opportunities to improve as a DJ and get more shows to be featured on the station.
Eventually, he decided to part from the station and move ahead and the hosts really appreciated what he had done with his shows and wished him the best of luck for future developments. All of these experiences in DJing gave him more confidence and the chance to network with other DJs and producers, receiving great feedback.
He has demonstrated his Disc Jockey abilities on a great number of Techno stations and Podcasts including Fnoob Techno Radio and Future Music FM. His abilities on the decks led to him performing at a plethora of events such as Load, Ghettoblaster, Waveform Riot, Subterraneo, Metro Casa, Heritage and many more.
Presently he runs his own shows on Cosmos Radio every Tuesday evening, featuring guest DJs for each show and appearing monthly on Techno Pulse Radio for Techno Connection UK. When he is not on the radio he spends a great deal of time producing new music.
El Brujo and the Wild Bunch episode 06 with guest Kev Willis opens with El Brujo’s 2222 Dualism on Frame Workxx Promo, establishing the Peak Time Techno focus. Till the End of Time on Techno Parade Promo brings Hard Techno into the early sequence before From Here to Eternity and the Cristian remix of Final Takeover on Ubeatcode return to peak-time pressure.
Kev Willis follows with Lunar Collide on Jambalay Records Promo, joined by El Brujo’s Call of Cthulhu on the same label. The Rhythm Fixxer’s Nigth Ritual, Francesco Conti’s I’m Looking for a Place to Stay and its House Music direction, Judge Jay’s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and Gianni Piras’ I Can Fly keep Jambalay Records Promo at the centre of the selection, After Joe Cozzo, Chris Khaos and Mike Wlkr’s Condemned on Jambalay Records Promo.
In the second hour, with Kev Willis MiSinki’s Modulate on Polygon Record brings the programme back to its established techno line. Essor and Jacknowledge’s The Test on Taub Recordings, Pfropf’s Needles Text on Hardtools Records, Full Funktion’s Day & Night on Phobiq and Secus’ Midnight Run on Darkroom Bureau extend that concentrated middle passage.
Neiland’s Nothing Less on Nada Records and Sleeparchive’s Porridge on Mindcut Music introduce Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) textures. Emison’s Limbo on trench, Viels’ Coincidence on Dynamic Reflection and Codeck’s Miss Adk remix of Petriuska on Ghost Program Records then restore the firmer peak-time tempo.
Exallos’ Saur on Big Punch Records and Oall Hates’ Gentrifies on Of Paradise lead into Petri Petro’s As Above So Below remix of Persist on Ghost Program Records. Riesenfeld’s Skamlebak Radiotarn and Allessandro’s Miss Adk remix of Petracca precede RNGD’s Broken Ritual 2 on Emphatic Records and Mittens’ She Who Brings Fire & Fury Unto the Desert on BlackBeard Records.
Same Lee’s Patience gives way to Luca Agnelli’s Slam remix of Voltumna on Etruria Beat, keeping the final stretch focused on the programme’s hard-edged techno selections. TWAN’s Dead Freight on VOLTAGE Imprint and Emison’s Hummel Paradox on trench close the set with the same direct intensity heard at its opening.
