Rumesh announces guest DJ and playlist for Petrichor 86

Petrichor 86 features host Rumesh with guest DJ THIL4N on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across Asia and internationally.

Rumesh, real name Rumesh Peiris, is a Sri Lankan DJ and the host of the podcast series. His musical direction developed alongside Sri Lanka’s underground House scene, with Progressive House Music becoming a central part of his work behind the decks.

Through his show, Rumesh created a platform for deeper and more progressive electronic music while also introducing guest DJs from different parts of the international underground. The series combines his own selections with contributions from artists whose styles complement the programme’s established direction.

His approach is centred on careful progression and the deeper side of the genre rather than abrupt changes between unrelated styles. That consistency has helped give Petrichor a recognisable identity across its long-running series of episodes.

Episode 86 features THIL4N as the guest DJ, adding another perspective to the programme’s Prog House and Melodic House and Techno focus. The appearance continues Rumesh’s approach of combining Sri Lankan underground talent with a wider network of DJs and producers connected through the series.

Guest DJ (first hour) THIL4N.

This edition’s first-hour guest is THIL4N, a DJ from Colombo, Sri Lanka, whose musical direction is centred on Progressive Songs. His early experience behind the decks came through private parties and events, where he began developing his approach to mixing and track selection.

Progressive House became the main focus of his DJing as he spent more time refining his technique and exploring the genre’s deeper and more melodic side. His development has also been shaped by Sri Lanka’s underground electronic music community and the artists active within it.

He has regularly worked alongside other local DJs, using those collaborations and shared performances to broaden his experience behind the decks. Observing other selectors and exchanging ideas within the local scene became an important part of how he developed his own style.

His appearance on episode 86 places that Colombo background within a programme closely connected with Sri Lanka’s House Music community. The guest set gives THIL4N space to present the musical direction he had been developing through private events and collaborations with other local DJs.

THIL4N opens the show with Mariano Mellino and John Cosani's remix of DJ Zombi's Ninja, immediately setting a deep Progressive House direction. Matter and Dimuth K continue the flow with Expedite, while Lio Q's remix of D.J. MacIntyre and Juan Ibanez keeps the early section spacious, controlled and steadily developing.

Michael A's untitled promo maintains the underground feel before Paul Angelo and Don Argento's remix of Da Luka's Focus adds a firmer rhythmic push. Ezequiel Arias and Artfaq follow with Boomerang, keeping the set centred on long transitions and melodic tension without breaking the progressive structure.

Nicolas Petracca, Ezequiel Anile and EANP deepen the middle section with Banjul, before Mode Apart's Vort and The Muhammads' Sahara continue the darker late-night atmosphere. Mir Omar's remix of Paul Sawyer's Terminus then broadens the final stretch, adding more space while preserving the steady club momentum.

Agustin Lupidi's No One Needed brings the programme towards its close through another measured Progressive passage. Coeus then finishes with Avalonia, introducing the episode's only Melodic House and Techno selection and giving the final minutes a more expansive melodic finish.

Across Petrichor 86, he keeps the session tightly focused, with eleven Progressive tracks forming the backbone of the programme before a single melodic departure at the end. The result is a patient, coherent set built around deep progression, controlled energy and gradual development.
