Veequé presents Secret Underground 07 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Secret Underground is a record label and event-management company originating from Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a small island in the Indian Ocean with a large South Asian following for underground electronic music.
Secret Underground was founded by Pasindu Dilhara as a Facebook page for sharing electronic-music posts. It later became a Mixcloud podcast and record label intended to support DJs in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's early rave scene helped bring this music to a wider audience, and the crew presents it for its listeners. At the time of publication, Secret Underground promoted events in Sri Lanka while managing its podcast alongside Scientific Sound Asia and other partners.
The Secret Underground crew planned to develop the brand internationally. Its aim was to connect artists and music enthusiasts through underground electronic music.
Guest DJ VeeQué .
This weeks guest DJ is Vidath Induwara, a Sri Lankan born DJ and producer who is better known for his stage name VeeQué. Falling in love with music from a very young age, he immediately took an interest in DJing and started studying Audio Engineering in 2014 and completed his education in sound and music technology.
As time went by it became clear that his newfound passion wasn't just a passing phase and would last he then made the decision to venture deeper into music, this quickly saw him find his way around the studio as this was the next phase of his progression. He started crafting himself a unique sound signature creating all kinds of music; in the beginning, he started to produce EDM and house music but gradually he fell in love with deep and underground music as he saw them as extremely soulful.
Artists like Hans Zimmer, Pink Floyd, Kalya Scintilla, Lee Burridge, Boris Brejcha, and Moby made a huge influence on his music. With his productions, he makes it his goal to bring natural acoustic sounds and music to the dance floor with a soulful sound signature not just as limiting as dance music but also more melodic and mellifluous through his unique technique of blending music amongst genres and experimenting.
VeeQué has established himself around the globe with many record labels and radio shows since the offset and his first-ever track evoked nostalgia that has now entered into the all-time top releases. He has released music on labels such as Another Life Music, Callote Records, and Bevel Records. Furthermore, he has had great support for his music from many artists such as Bynomic, Airwave, Christian Monique, Nishan Lee, Mario Picco, and PPK to name a few.
His plans for 2020 are to release another EP that sounds more melodic and chilled. He also plans some more dark and deep tracks with a more psychedelic stance and also some collaborations with Bynomic, Salbah and Daniel Maya.
VeeQué has this to say “Every moment that passes by is another story of our existence, which is perceived by nostalgic feelings of our own, a single-story can always be interpreted as two stories for two souls as per the past experiences of oneself, which create a unique fable for an individual.”
Perceiving that nostalgic feeling as a story is what he’s trying to accomplish in his music and his DJ mixes create a flawless journey that falls deep into the mind of the listeners. The future surrounding this talented artist is certainly going places, so get strapped in as the ride has only just begun.
Secret Underground 07 with Veequé episode opens with NONDO's Chiral (Acoustic Mix) on Jeahmon!, establishing a House Music foundation. Zone+'s The Muse on All Day I Dream then introduces Melodic House and Techno.
Roy Rosenfeld follows with the Organic House cut The Biggest Heart on TRYBESof and the Deep House selection Hypnosa De La Rosa on Lost Miracle. RIGOONI's A Blue Rose For Daniele on The Soundgarden and Khen's Manginot, also on Lost Miracle, return the programme to melodic house and techno.
Magic Place featuring Ira Ange's Asia Experience on Revolt Music brings in Progressive House, followed by Soluna and Armandhe's Suntech & Jhonny LP remix of Ozadya on Clubsonica Records. An ID from Daniel Maya and Veequé precedes Belms' Stay in VeeQue's remix on Another Life Music.
Dubfire's The End To My Beginning on Diynamic shifts towards Indie Dance. Binaryh's Ara on Three Hands Records and Findike's Astroid on Findike Records restore the melodic house and techno focus.
Dark Matter's Landmark on Somatic Records, Lunar Plane's Imperium on Stil Vor Talent and Aaryon and Müge Isik's Tension on Einmusika Recordings deepen that direction. A Veequé ID is followed by Senses Of Mind's Ephesia Grammata on Untold Stories and 8Kays' Rainbow on Blaufield Music.
Faunus' Rauschhaus on Parquet Recordings leads into Senses Of Mind's Staying Forever, released through Untold Stories. Veequé closes with Evoking Nostalgia on Callote, a Peak Time Techno finish to the programme.
