Tam Yeung presents his sixth show on Scientific Sound Asia, with a playlist spanning exploratory electronic selections. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Tam Yeung, real name Tim Young, is a DJ from Essex in the United Kingdom who lives in Da Nang, Vietnam. His musical influences include Techno, experimental and electronic sounds, metal, jazz, folk, disco, funk and other genres.
Tam began DJing in 2004 at the semi-legendary, moderately infamous monthly Club Clor events at the Brixton Windmill. The parties featured bands and DJs, and acquired a fearsome reputation for people letting their hair down.
At Club Clor, Tam was known for selecting tracks that broke from the norm. He has since played in several countries through a mixture of talent and fortitude.
His appearances have included squat parties in Berlin, beach bars in Malaysia, Thailand and Malta, underground venues in Poland, Techno clubs in Moscow and breweries in London. He has also been part of DJ crews and held residencies in Aberdeen and London, playing anything from hard disco to soft industrial.
After moving to Da Nang, Vietnam, Tam's plans to play psychedelic sounds for open-minded ravers were interrupted by the pandemic at the time of publication. His crate-digging now reached the airwaves on Scientific Sound Asia.
Biosphere's Daphnis 26 opens with Electronica from Norway's Biophon Records. Moses Boyd follows with the Breaks cut After Tomorrow on Exodus, before HHY & The Macumbas bring Adrian Sherwood into Gysin Version.
Burnt Friedman's En Bu 2 returns to Breaks through Nonplace, and Dolo Percussion's DOLO 5 introduces House Music from Future Times. Mighty Lord Deathman's Jennifer then precedes Bwana's Bass Music piece The Capsule's Pride on Radio Punctum.
Mike Bourne's Hop The Railings leads into Pan Sonic's Muuntaja, a raw, deep and hypnotic Techno recording on Sähkö Recordings. Erik Hall's Music For 18 Musicians Section V-VI gives way to Byetone's Helix, returning to Electronica through Raster-Noton.
Transllusion's Look Within brings another raw, deep and hypnotic Techno entry from Tresor Records, before Metrist's KJ Receder moves into Bass / Club territory on Timedance. Logos and Mumdance follow with the Alternative track Zoned In on Different Circles, while Téléplasmiste's Experimental To Kiss Earth Goodbye on House Of Mythology precedes Gas's Konigsforst Zwei.
