Marco Mei presents his 2020 episode 21 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Marco, an Italian DJ and producer, has accumulated over thirty years of experience in the music industry. His passion for Afrocentric music and electronica developed during his teenage years, leading him to begin his DJ career in the early 1990s.
During his early years as a DJ, he performed at festivals and clubs internationally, sharing the stage with artists including Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg. These appearances established a wider context for his work beyond Italy.
At the turn of the millennium, he secured a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh, which led to international touring and performances at venues including OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow. The residency marked an important stage in his development as an international DJ.
In 2009, Marco joined forces with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, to form the production duo Bicycle Corporation. Together, they have released over 50 tracks and remixes that have been well received within the electronic music community.
Marco is based in Taipei, Taiwan, where he performs at events across the city. He is part of the pool of DJs and producers featured on Scientific Sound Asia’s online radio station.
His weekly show features Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. For international and Asian events, he is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency.
Marco Mei’s 2020 episode 21 opens with Demuir featuring Bluey Robinson’s Lusting U on Kaoz Theory, placing an Electro accent before Johannes Albert’s 1-800-PIANO brings in House Music through Frank Music. The early pairing balances a vocal-led start with the piano-centred club focus of Albert’s record.
A Guy Called Gerald’s Voodoo Ray, featuring Ant Of Generic People and released on A Guy Called Gerald, adds a Tech House entry. Ejeca follows with Your Mind on Last Night On Earth, introducing Melodic House and Techno to the opening stretch.
Groove Armada’s Kölsch remix of Love Sweet Sound appears twice in the sequence, with the Lovebox Music Company release reinforcing the programme’s house-centred thread. Silicone Soul’s Space Motion remix of Right On! on Ultralab follows later, keeping the rhythm focused and direct.
Edgar Almada’s version of Donna Summer’s I Feel Love, issued through Prison Entertainment, introduces Indie Dance while retaining the record’s Disco association. Heaven 17’s Martinezbrothersedit of Play To Win on Virgin Catalogue then adds a Dance Music turn.
PillowTalk’s Barber remix of Night Creeper, released through PillowTalk Music / EMPIRE, brings a Peak Time Techno edge to the later section. NairLess’s From Disco To Acid then draws the selection towards Acid House and Disco, alongside the programme’s broader Techno reference.
Decorum’s Drop Acid returns to House Music before Armand Van Helden, Solardo and Herve bring Power Of Bass from Ministry of Sound Recordings into the final run. C&C Music Factory’s Billy Kenny rework of Gonna Make You Sweat closes the episode with a familiar vocal hook and a club-facing finish.
