Marco Mei presents his 2020 episode 20 radio show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences in India, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka and the wider region.
Marco is an Italian DJ and producer with almost three decades of experience, whose interest in Afrocentric and electronic music began in his youth. He launched his DJ career in the early 1990s.
Beginning in Italy, Marco performed at festivals and clubs internationally alongside Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg. His work has taken him to a range of club audiences around the world.
By 2000, he had secured a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh, which led to appearances at nightclubs worldwide. These included Observatory in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow, among others.
In 2009, Marco co-founded Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The partnership has produced more than 50 tracks and remixes that have been well received.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, Marco is part of Scientific Sound Asia's online radio station and works across a wider South East Asian network. His weekly broadcasts draw on Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic House and Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno.
Marco is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency. His weekly programme provides a regular outlet for these selections.
Marco Mei's 2020 episode 20 show, which originally aired on 23 May 2020, opens with Jerome Sydenham and Fatima Njai's I Will before Obalski's Acid 1986 on Hot Haus Recs establishes the House Music focus. The early selections set a direct club rhythm without relying on a fixed single style.
Ejeca's Never Should on Shall Not Fade keeps the house thread in place, followed by DJ Sneak's dub of Movin' Parts on Kaoz Theory. Blue Boy's BC edit of Remember Me, issued through OM Records, adds another familiar vocal reference to the opening stretch.
Loods brings a brighter Nu-Disco touch with Pure Bliss Meltdown on Steel City Dance Discs. Nic Fanciulli then moves from Werk (Move Your Body) on Rekids into Focus, where the Peak Time Techno pressure becomes more pronounced.
Artwork's Acid Lines on Unfinished Records returns the programme to a taut house framework before Robag Wruhme arrives with Calma Calma. Wruhme's Yes, also on Kompakt Extra, develops the more spacious Melodic House and Techno character of this later section.
Roman Flügel's Deo in the Pachanga Boys New Blazer edit, released on Hippie Dance, introduces an Indie Dance angle. Ossie's dub of In A House on SuperCali follows with a lower-slung Deep House feel.
Nicky Night Time featuring Victoriahhh brings Nu-Disco back through Own Your Isolation on Music To Dance To Records, before Ashee's Retrofit on Life And Death returns to Indie Dance. Jesus Loves You close with the Oakenfold Mix of Generations Of Love on Parlophone Sweden, ending the set with a Dance record.
