DJ Marco Mei presents his 2020 radio show episode 17 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
With close to three decades of experience at the time, Marco was an Italian DJ and producer from Turin. His early interest in Afrocentric music and the roots of electronic music led him to begin DJing in the early 1990s.
During the first stage of his career, he toured extensively throughout Italy. He later played festivals and clubs internationally alongside DJs including Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
In the early 2000s, a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm el-Sheikh opened the way to further international bookings. These included OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow.
Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, in 2009. Their studio partnership produced 50 tracks and remixes that received positive support from the electronic-music community.
After moving to Taipei at the start of the previous decade, Marco became active at events across the city. His radio selections span Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno.
Based in Taipei, Marco works across a wider South East Asian network of clubs, events and electronic-music activity. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his weekly programme is broadcast through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station.
DJ Marco Mei's 2020 radio show episode 17 opens with Kano's It's A War in the Re-tide Remix, a Nu-Disco cut on Fulltime Production. Last Nubian's Carlo Remix of I Left on Moment Cinetique then brings in House Music, followed by Delfonic and Kapote's Maison Rejam on Toy Tonics Records.
Moscoman's Gerd Janson Remix of What Do We Care keeps the early club focus in place before David Herrero's Slashhh on Stereo Productions introduces Tech House. Booka Shade and Kaktus follow with Casper Cole's remix of Perfect In A Way, while Timo Maas's Karma Clash adds further tension.
T E S T P R E S S's Impressme gives the middle section a Dance Music edge. James Solace's Jansons' Remix of The Light on Four Thirty Two returns to House Music before Munich Machine's Boris Dlugosch Edit of Space Warrior recalls Disco.
La Mano's Solo Dance on Nightcolours moves into Melodic House and Techno. Jerome Isma-ae's Charlotte De Witte Trance Remix of Hold That Sucker Down on Armada Music then raises the pressure towards Peak Time Techno.
Alignment sustains that late-set pace with Reverse and Time, both released on KNTXT. Nohan's Dee Montero Remix of Unexplainable on RADIANT. brings the mood back towards Melodic House and Techno.
Better Lost Than Stupid's Dennis Ferrer Remix of Overboard on Skint Records returns to House Music, before Marco Tegui's La Danza De La Burrita on A Tribe Called Kotori introduces Organic House. Duck Sauce's I Don't Mind on Fool's Gold Records keeps the closing stretch club-focused, and Gaznevada's I.C. Love Affair in the Italian Version closes on Italian Records with Italo-Disco.
