Samotarev Publishes Tracklist For ‘Right Focus’ Episode 04

Samotarev presents Right Focus episode 04 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally with a premier underground focus.

Samotarev’s real name is Alexey Samotarev, and he began his DJ career in 1997 as a Breakbeat and Electrohouse DJ in Russia. He was one of the originators of The Python Project, a Progressive House, Tech House and Techno trio formed in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, by Yura Kolomiytsev, Alexei Samotarev, also known as DJ Samotarev, and Eugeniy Litovchenko.

At roughly the same time, he began playing with both vinyl and CDJs. He played Russian and Ukrainian clubs, festivals and private parties in cities across Russia and Ukraine.

In 2004, The Python Project released its first album, Deep Pressure, and further tracks were released afterwards. Between 2004 and 2006, he co-organised the Sabota DJ promo group and organised Massive Music Festivals in southern Russia, with attendance reaching the thousands.

From 2005 to 2007, he co-hosted the weekly radio show Adrenalin on Radio N. In 2006, the first Python Project track was released on Xeton, followed by releases on Ascension, Balkan Connection, Behold, Bellarine, Composure, Jetlag, Monad, Presslab, Proton, Real Music, Segment, System and Toes In The Sand.

In 2009, he began his solo career as Samotarev with Space Travel, released on Lowbit with remixes by Thomas Penton, Rachael Star and Joshua Collins. That year, Samotarev established his label, The Green Snake Label, whose main direction is progressive sound.

In 2012, he moved to Saint Petersburg, where he began a residency at Parkking, an after-party club, and played at Music Hall, 4:20 Music Lab, Prodj Club, OM Café, Look and Q Club. In 2016, Samotarev moved to Koh Phangan, Thailand, became a resident at 4U Bar and Lost Paradise, and took part in Scandal Festival on Koh Phangan.

He regularly plays at KC Beach Club, The Beach and Gecko Club on Koh Samui, as well as 360 Bar, Loi Lay, Samsara, Guy’s Bar, Local Bar, Coast Resort, Seaboard Bungalows, Amsterdam Bar, Jungle Experience and Mustache in Bangkok. Samotarev keeps producing, and his Thailand-made single Voice of Phangan on Bonzai Progressive reached Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive House chart, while he is also a resident of the DJ agency and radio station.

Samotarev’s Right Focus episode 04 opens with Samotarev and Graham Gold’s Rising in the Samotarev Chilling Mix on Asymmetric. Alfoa’s A New Life, in Nico Szabo’s remix for BC2, establishes the Progressive House direction before Ramorae’s Jampoa on Artefact introduces Deep House.

Den Babin and Nodar M’s Belle Bongo appears in its original version on Green Snake before Alex Breitling’s Dhyaan on Timeless Moment brings in Afro House. Andy Leavy’s Your Realm on EC2 then returns to the Deep House thread established earlier in the programme.

Teleport-X’s Just Want to Know, in the Lio Q and Nicolas Leonelli Dub Mix for Deepwibe Underground, moves the selection back towards Progressive House. V-Sag’s Waterfall on One Of A Kind and Ayhan Akca’s Masquerader on BC2 hold that line through the middle of the set.

Andy Leavy’s Meerah Narjis on EC2 brings in Organic House before Rodskeez and Mars Monero’s Rust in Oil, Bones in Soil on Suffused Music returns to Progressive House. Jeff Eveline’s Ten Tentacles, in Dowden’s remix for 3rd Avenue, and Bootes Gray’s Healing Trip in the NOIYSE PROJECT remix on Balkan Connection extend the progressive passage.

Kostya Outta and Max Losev’s Fantasy on One Of A Kind follows with CJ Peeton’s The Shining Moon on Dynamica. Spacebeat’s Moonlight on BC2 keeps the programme within its Progressive House centre.

Ilya Gerus’s Ghost on GreenSnake precedes Jois L’s Enertia Sound Remix on Emotional Content Recordings, bringing in Dance & EDM. STEREO MUNK and Dublew’s Broken Thoughts on Balkan United gives way to LOSTIN’s Come On on RYNTH, before Den Babin and Nodar M close with the Kazancev Retro Mix of Belle Bongo on Green Snake.
