Rumesh presents Petrichor 85 with guest DJ Darin Zilla on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across Asia and internationally.
Rumesh, real name Rumesh Peiris, is a Sri Lankan DJ and the host of the podcast series. His musical direction developed within Sri Lanka’s underground electronic scene, with Progressive House becoming a central part of his work behind the decks.
Through his weekly show, Rumesh created a platform for deeper and more progressive electronic music while also introducing guest DJs from different parts of the international underground. The series combines his own selections with contributions from artists whose styles complement the programme’s established direction.
His approach is centred on careful progression, deeper grooves and the melodic side of the genre rather than abrupt changes between unrelated styles. That consistency has helped give Petrichor a recognisable identity across its long-running series of episodes.
Episode 85 brings another perspective to the programme’s Prog House focus. The appearance continues Rumesh’s approach of connecting Sri Lanka’s underground scene with a wider network of DJs and producers through the series.

This edition’s guest DJ is Darin Zilla, a Sri Lankan DJ whose musical direction is centred on the best Progressive House. His activity within the local scene has included club and venue appearances alongside the development of his own recorded mix projects.
Darin created the Soul Explanation podcast series as a platform for established artists as well as newer DJs and producers. The project reflects his interest in supporting music beyond his own sets and creating additional space for artists connected with the underground scene.
His DJing has become closely associated with Progressive House, which remains the main focus of his selections. Through performances around Sri Lanka, he developed further experience while building a stronger connection with the country’s electronic music community.
Darin has also been involved with parties on the island alongside his work as a DJ and podcast host. His appearance on Petrichor 85 places that local background within a programme closely connected with Sri Lanka’s Progressive House scene.
DJ Darin Zilla opens the show with Teiao's remix of Lucas Rodriguez's Southvibes, immediately establishing the deep, measured pulse of Progressive House. Julian Nates follows with Rennaissance before Tomas Tejeda's remix of Bootes Gray's Healing Trip keeps the early section focused on patient melodic development and steady rhythmic movement.
Dhany G's Homero continues that controlled progression before Cid Inc.'s Turning Pages appears in Alex O'Rion's Marathon Edit, opening the arrangement into a broader and more expansive passage. Hernan Cattaneo and Lonya then reshape Acumen and Monastetiq's R.O.D, adding further depth while maintaining the long-form structure at the centre of the session.
Matter's remix of Michael A's Twinkling Stars carries the programme into its latter half with another spacious progressive selection. D-Formation then appears twice, first through Sian and again alongside Rick Pier O'Neil on Odisey, giving the closing sequence a stronger club-driven push without breaking the melodic continuity.
Franco Tejedor closes the show with Little Butterfly on Droid9, completing a ten-track set devoted entirely to Progressive tracks. The guest DJ keeps the episode tightly focused from beginning to end, favouring gradual transitions, deep atmospheres and sustained melodic tension over abrupt stylistic changes.
