Gerard presents The Hit List 24 with guest DJ Jose Norat on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Gerard is a Deep House, Deep Tech, Tech House and Techno producer and DJ from Angeles City in the United States, with a definite passion for electronic music and a considered approach to making it. He was an emerging international talent seeking to play a meaningful part in House music's future, widening its culture and awareness through his style of play and production.
In 2020, Gerard had returned to Florida, USA, after a period in South East Asia, having left China during the virus outbreak. He works with Scientific Sound Asia's DJ agency and is Nu-Disco manager for Brasbeat, Latin America's first and only digital source for electronic music.
Gerard also hosts a regular podcast and mix show featuring his charted music for each month. This edition of The Hit List features guest DJ Jose Norat, who was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and whose many influences prompted him to use music to create change in society.
Having grown up around the United States, Jose Norat has made it a point to use music to make a difference. His preferences range from bands such as El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico to the global sounds of U2 and Green Day.
Jose's focus on hard bass, good vibes and edgy beats has always been at the forefront, alongside influences including Sasha & Digweed, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude and Deadmau5. That combination of musical preferences and electronic influences informs his search for an ultimate sound capable of creating positive change during his lifetime.
Living in Miami, a major centre for electronic music, opened the doors of Jose's imagination. Music is his life and, as he says, “Electronic music is a combination of positive emotions and the need to MOVE! So always feel good and make sure to take the journey”.
That path had taken Jose to venues across south Florida and to some of the internet's more popular radio shows. He sees the future as full of possibilities and potential for growth both as a person and as an artist.
Together, Tim Jones and Jose Norat work under the name DeviceRATT. They hope to continue making a name for themselves in Miami and the wider music scene.
Gerard's The Hit List 24 with Jose Norat opens with DeviceRATT and Laidback Prince's Back Next Month, before DeviceRATT and Dirtyclean's 2ce on LTHM establishes a Tech House direction. Tapesh and Ricardo Espino's La Rumba on Happy Techno Music follows after Saeed Younan featuring Miss Kitten's Unexpected Distortion.
Alessio Mosti and Mirco Martini's Say What on Hotfingers brings in Funky House, with Crazibiza's Soul Cool on PornoStar Records extending that feel. Dabi and Little Rick's Push Me on Klexos Records then introduces House Music to the programme.
Hrederik and Marc Robblz return the mix to Tech House through Self on Club Session. Gary Caos follows with One Two Step and Got Your Money, both released through Casa Rossa, to keep the central section buoyant.
Bärtaub's Marble on R&S Records shifts into Deep Tech House, followed by Dennis Cruz's Daily Routine on Lemon-aid Music. After Flima's Dancing In The Rain, August Artier's Rakuyou on Voltaire Music sustains the deeper club focus.
Gianmarco Limenta's Osahar on Syncopate Afterhours turns towards Progressive House. Matan Caspi's Oriental Sun on Outta Limits and Cathy K's Paul Hamilton remix of Saraswati on Bonzai Progressive develop that later stretch.
Joseph Mancino's Tripio X remix of Universal Inspiration on Ole Rec brings Tech House back into view near the close. Loosejaw's Neither remix of I'm Not Going Down on Whoyostro finishes the selection in Deep Tech House territory.
