Green Snake Records presented Snake Sessions 052 on Scientific Sound Asia with guest DJs Glenn Molloy and William Byrne. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Green Snake Records was founded in 2009 as a Russian-Australian label in cooperation with Bellarine Recordings. From August 2009, the label operated as a single Russian label owned by its head honcho, Samotarev.
The label focuses on progressive house, tech house, deep house and techno. Its releases feature tracks by Russian and international producers.
Guest DJ (first hour) Glenn Molloy.
Glenn Molloy, the first-hour guest, is a Dublin based DJ and producer who began DJing at the age of 12, playing old-school vinyl. As his experience of the scene grew, he developed a particular interest in underground techno and house.
Listening to mix compilations by Sasha and Digweed, Carl Cox, One One and the Global Underground series helped him decide to follow the path of the DJs he admired. He set out to pursue a career as an internationally recognised DJ.
By this period, Glenn had played leading venues in Dublin and festivals across Ireland, supporting and warming up for Slam, Gary Beck, Spektre, Slipmatt, Fish go Deep and Nhar. He had also held two residencies with local club nights and presented weekly radio shows on two of Dublin's underground radio stations.
At the time, he focused a lot on production and had top releases on many labels. Those releases had received support from DJs around the world, with further material planned.
Second hour William Byrne
William Byrne was brought up in Dublin, Ireland, surrounded by electronic music from an early age. His brother Paul Chillage had presented a weekly electronic music radio programme since the mid-nineties, so their home was filled with new records and CDs.
At the age of nine, William heard fresh and varied music coming from his brother's room each day. In 2001, aged 15, he began buying his own music, started DJing in his bedroom and, by around 2004, played nights across Dublin.
In 2010, he took the next logical step and began producing. William has said of those early production years, " I was determined to create My own productions and bring to life the sounds and melodies going on in my head".
To date, William has had a plethora of Progressive releases on several labels. He transcribes the sounds and melodies that shape his productions.
Snake Sessions 052 with Glenn Molloy and William Byrne opens with Nebula's Persian Rug in Facundo Mohrr's remix for Hoomidaas and Ron Rosenfeld's The Biggest Heart on TRYBESof. Both selections establish an Organic House foundation before the set heads further into the club.
Atjazz and Jullian Gomez's It's My Time, remixed by Jimpster for Atjazz, brings in Deep House detail, followed by Budakid's A Molten Arrow on Lost & Found. The latter introduces Progressive House, while Rodrigues Jr's Malecon Azul on Mobilee and Jimi Jules' Fool on Innervisions broaden the opening hour with electronic material.
An unidentified Peak Time Techno record follows before Tibi Dabo's Her Moon on Crosstown Rebels returns to deep house. Daniel Rateuke's Marvelin on Safe Music then adds an Afro House accent to Glenn Molloy's hour.
William Byrne begins with Leaving Laurel's Sometimes It's Scary...but It's Still You and Me on Anjunadeep, moving through Robert R. Hardy's Sensus in Matter's remix for Superordinate. Marsh's Eu Phoria, also on Anjunadeep, places Melodic House and Techno at the centre of this part of the programme.
Rolo Green's Music Saved Me on mau5trap leads into William Byrne's own I Suppose So for Findike, keeping the second hour in progressive-house territory. Guy J's Day Of Light on Lost & Found extends that direction before Sébastien Léger's Lanarka, also on Lost & Found, returns to melodic house and techno.
Antrim's Confused on Sudbeat Music and 1979's Where Are You on Lost & Found sustain the progressive-house close. Issues' Danderlions on Black Hole brings in Trance, before Rolo's Green Miracle on Anjunabeats provides the final selection.
