Green Snake Records was founded in 2009 as a Russian-Australian label in cooperation with Bellarine Recordings. From August 2009, the label operated as a Russian label owned by head honcho Samotarev, focusing on progressive house, tech house, deep house and techno from Russian and international producers.
First hour Nodar M
The first hour belongs to Nodar M, whose real name is Nodari Mekerishvili and who was born and raised in Surgut, a small northern city in Siberia, Russia. His principal styles of production and DJing are Progressive, Tech House, and Techno.
Nodar M began DJing in May 2000, playing his first set almost two decades before this programme was published. He grew and developed through the early years of the millennium, travelled around Russia, settled in St Petersburg in 2007, and acquired Ableton in 2012 to study production and write his first tracks.
In summer 2016, Green Snake Records released the first production of Nodar M, a track entitled Chord. At around the same time, he launched his own project, FX Bar, a nightclub in St Petersburg that became one of the city's best-known venues.
In May 2017, Nodar M released the 'Play The Game' E.P., followed by a remix of Sharab in 2018. His December 2019 release was a mini album entitled Minor Mood, which was well received by critics.
Second hour Vakabular
The second hour features Vakabular, also known as Vakabular Pasha, who began his DJ path in Koh Phangan, Thailand after being inspired by the local house music scene. Within a few years, he progressed from private underground parties to playing at established events on the island.
Drawing on his experience of dance-music events, Vakabular created his own Koh Phangan dance-music hub, Hollystone, which became one of the island's notable venues and events. From the island, he established an international profile through EPs and LPs on a wide range of international labels.
In 2016, Vakabular's six-track mini-album Floor Damage was released on one of the best progressive house labels in the world, Stan Kolev's Outta Limits. Octopus Records released his remix for Ron Costa after he won the Beatport Remix Contest, which brought him into the techno charts.
Regular releases on Suffused Music brought Vakabular into the Progressive charts, before he explored minimal music through Plastic Robots' imprint Warbeats Records. His EP Vulfpeck got massive support and became one of the top-selling tracks on a Brazilian label.
Vakabular has created his own label, Hollystone Records, which is the focus for his forthcoming releases. The label's vision is music without a fixed genre orientation, free from expectations and limitations, and it found support from music listeners around the world within its first year.
Among Vakabular's eclectic releases, the one that had yielded the strongest results at the time was his top selling EP, Now You See. The release ran on all the major labels mentioned above and had accumulated more than 2.5 million plays across YouTube, iTunes and Spotify.
Hollystone Records was an emerging label based in the jungle of Koh Phangan, Thailand at the time of publication. The two-hour programme brings together its artists' musical perspectives through Nodar M and Vakabular's selections.
Snake Sessions 051 with Nodar M and Vakabular opens with Deniz Kabu's Nothing Left on ZEHN Records before Nesker's No Escape on MYR and Local Dialect and True Partridge's November on Purified Records establish a Melodic House and Techno foundation. These opening selections give Nodar M's first hour a measured, melodic start.
Hannes Bieger's Stars on Bedrock Records introduces Progressive House, while HOSH, 1979 and Jalja's Midnight on fryhide returns to melodic territory. Tantum, Oluhle and Samer Soltan's Super Flu remix of Into Yam on Monaberry leads into Legroni and Peredel's Fake Mood remix of Mbyes on UFO Sound, bringing Indie Dance into the first hour.
Mike Spirit's Sweet Enough on Highway Records and Sébastien Léger's Kanga on All Day I Dream introduce Deep House textures. Khen's Mamba on TRYBESof, Newman (I Love)'s Kiss of the Seraph on All Day I Dream and Alexey Romeo's Arabic Adventure on Go Deeva Records complete Nodar M's hour with melodic weight.
Vakabular begins the second hour with RoelBeat's Mumbai on Rundell Beatz and Shamizo and Discorocks' 5prite remix of My Dream on Heavenly Bodies, placing Tech House at the centre of the set. Luigi Rocca's Wood Room on Plastik Galaxy follows with a more stripped-back Deep Tech House approach.
Karuva's Behind the Speaker on 303Lovers, John Summit's Stimulate on Repopulate Mars and Rob Kali's Stimulation on Kittball keep the second hour focused on direct club rhythms. Their sequence gives Vakabular space to build from the deeper tone of Wood Room without abandoning the programme's house-led direction.
MACROLEV's I Made You a Fan Too on Vivifier Records, Hassio (COL) and Danum's Get High on Eat and Beat, and My Dirty House's Make It on Phunk Junk Records sustain the late-set momentum. Ocean Roulette and Arnold & Lane close with Groove on Perfect Driver Music, ending Vakabular's hour with a concise club-focused finish.
