DJ Marco Mei presents his 2020 show 02 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform with an international audience.
Marco is an Italian DJ and producer with more than two decades of experience behind the decks. His early musical background included Afrobeat, and he began his DJ career as electronic music was finding a wider audience.
Since the early 1990s, he has developed his turntable practice through appearances at festivals and nightclubs around the world. These sets have included performances alongside Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
During the early 2000s, Marco held a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh. He subsequently worked as a DJ and producer at venues including Arcan in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk.
Those appearances also brought collaborations with Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D’Void. The range of venues placed his work before club audiences across Europe and Asia.
Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The duo has released more than 50 tracks and remixes, which have received support from established international DJs.
Based in Taipei, Marco works across a wider South East Asian network of clubs, events and electronic music activity. He is available for bookings through the DJ agency, while his weekly programme is broadcast through the radio station.
His weekly selections range through Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. This January 2020 edition brings classic and contemporary material together through records including Rick James’ Super Freak, Michael Kiwanuka’s You Ain’t The Problem and Doja Cat’s No Police.
Marco Mei's 2020 show 02 episode opens with RedSoul and Jill Scott’s Summertime in the RedSoul edit. SIDWHO’s Shake (Your Body) on Glitterbox Recordings establishes a Nu-Disco feel before Plaster Hands brings Gipsy on Papa Records into the early House Music section.
Peppe Citarella and Brutha Basil follow with Warning on UNION RECORDS (IT), keeping the house rhythm in place. Ante Perry and Dayne S then bring Bam Bam in Kellerkind’s remix on ZEHN Records into Afro House, before Aitor Ronda’s Kori on ELEVATE introduces Peak Time Techno.
Armando (PT) and Unknown7’s Inside on Desolat moves the programme into Tech House. Claude VonStroke’s All My People In The House on DIRTYBIRD keeps that firmer club direction, while Doja Cat’s No Police returns to Nu-Disco.
Mija’s version of Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless) on House Kitsuné America brings the sequence back towards house vocals. Tensnake’s Rules on Armada Music follows, before Ziggy Phunk’s Dont Stop in the James Rod remix on Spa In Disco adds another Nu-Disco selection.
New Order featuring Filta Freqz appear with Side Orders ahead of Piem’s Cry Out on Downtown Underground. Mattei and Omich’s Arpoador on Mattei & Omich Music then returns the set to Afro House.
Goyah, Mirko and Meex bring The Evening in the Mirko & Meex remix into the final passage. Terrence Parker’s Deuteronomy in Petko Turner’s Häppy Van Mazn edit precedes Lee Foss and Lee Curtiss’ Drifting in Sonny Fodera’s remix on Toolroom Records, closing the programme with house-focused club energy.
