8U8A presents Global Bass show 12 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
The Russian DJ and MC is based in Mui Ne, Vietnam, and assembles a genre-spanning selection that moves from experimental bass through tropical global sounds to drum and bass aggression. 8U8A began in 2004 as a drum and bass and jungle MC, drawing on his early experience as a vocalist in three bands.
By 2007, he had integrated DJing into his practice and built a dedicated collection focused on dubstep, grime and garage. In 2011, tropical global bass music captured his imagination and prompted him to expand that collection across Baile Funk, Moombahton, Kuduro, Dancehall, Dembow, Cumbia, Trap, Jersey Club, Footwork and Jungle.
In 2014, 8U8A began travelling to perform across Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia, connecting with musicians and deepening his presence in the Asian music scene. That background informs a programme that draws together bass-focused club music and wide-ranging international reference points.
8U8A's Global Bass show 12 episode opens with Tsuruda's Prologue, Kimchi Crisis and Fubar, all released through Alpha Pup. These Breaks tracks establish the experimental, glitchy and rhythmically off-kilter approach that frames the opening stretch.
Stagga's Policeman Get Hype Dub Version brings dubwise weight before Boylan joins Riko Dan on Suspect, released by Nomine Sound, for an Electro turn. Boylan's Start Up with Flowdan follows on Nomine Sound with UK Garage pressure, while Spirits in the Breeze featuring Devlin supplies the gritty UK energy and grime-laced edge.
Dos Flakos' Berimbau, DJ Madd's Think Wise and Lua Preta's To Com Meu Dred bring the selection into Bass / Club territory, with each appearing on Gravitas Recordings. The momentum then shifts towards Rio through PURI's PARA, CkRono's Beat Do Prodigy, Leo Justi's When a Fire x Oh Novinha mashup and Dyne's Really Hot Baile, where high-energy percussion gives the Baile Funk section its force.
DJP7's GOKU and Johnny Ice e Elpitxú's Tá fixe with Savio Show and Socílo Xeriff extend those Afro-Portuguese and tribal bounce influences before Su Real's remix of Ritviz's Ved. SOOHAN then occupies much of the second half with Chariots of Fire Weed, the remix of Aesop Rock's None Shall Pass and Hey You Whats That Sound?, combining Bollywood material, traditional melodies, classic Hip Hop and epic film-score references.
SOOHAN's remixes of Ashok Mastana's Lagi Re Lagi Hamein Sai Dhun, Sukhwinder Singh and Vijay Prakash's Jayaho Janatha, and Rancho de Monsanto's La Cima Ao Castelo lead into David Starfire's Vishnu featuring Shri, released on Gravitas Recordings. David Starfire's This Sound with Justin Terranova in the DISSØLV remix pairs spiritual-electronic detail, sitars and sub-bass with a Dance Music foundation before darker Trap material arrives.
G Jones' Immortal Light and Dark Artifact return to Alpha Pup-adjacent experimental intensity through ILLUSORY RECORDS, while the Drift Acid Mix on Illusory Records adds a sharper Trap angle. Illustrated's Alchemy on Gravitas Recordings and 6Blocc's Footwork Killa and Basscraft move the programme into heavier Dubstep and bass-weighted territory.
TNGHT's Club Finger on Warp Records and Basha's Subsonic on We Got This Music set up a Halftime passage before Document One's Holy Moly on Shogun Audio. BassBrothers and Holly's So Stupid, BassBrothers' Oh My on Playaz, and Shy FX's Roll The Dice with Stamina MC and Lily Allen give way to the final Drum and Bass run.
Leaf's Gang Sh#t on Grid Recordings UK, Skeptical and SP:MC's Smelly Button on Shogun Audio, and Vital's Beg Steal & Borrow on Low Down Deep Recordings intensify the closing run. SVDDEN DEATH's Rise in the Aweminus remix, Russian Jump Up Mafia's Slav Police on FUM, and Prolix and Black Sun Empire's Savages featuring Virus Syndicate end the episode with the raw chaos and neuro-style aggression promised at its outset.
