Gerard announces guest DJ Leo and playlists for his show The Hit List 16

DJ Gerard’s The Hit List episode 16 on Scientific Sound Asia features a second-hour guest set from DJ Leo alongside the published playlist. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform, with a DJ agency service alongside its Asian DJ agency work for Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the rest of Asia.

Gerard, also known as Tim Jones, is from Florida in the USA and has worked as part of DeviceRATT with F.L.I. Records. He is a DJ and producer whose work is rooted in electronic music, particularly House Music.

His interest in electronic music developed during his time with DeviceRATT, where he played sets built around beats and electronic sounds. Gerard has achieved recognition both in the United States and internationally.

He held multiple residencies at venues across East Asia, where he entranced audiences with his rhythms and performances. Those bookings established him within electronic music circles across the region as well as in his home country.

Gerard built a following in China’s music community, but the pandemic abruptly ended his time in the Far East and prompted his return to America. His departure left an absence for listeners who had followed his work in the region.

Since returning to the United States, he has stayed dedicated to his art, playing his blend of House Music and Techno at venues in the USA and his home state of Florida. His audience and profile have grown through those performances.

Through The Hit List, Gerard presents House Music and Techno selections alongside their related subgenres. The show gives space to the records and producers that shape his DJ sets.

Guest DJ Leo.

This week’s featured guest DJ in the second hour is Leo, a musician, producer, DJ and promoter with a long-standing enthusiasm for electronic music. His musical background began early in an environment shaped by varied musical influences.

When he is not playing live, Leo works in the studio on original compositions. More than a decade of DJing has helped him develop a sound that brings rhythm and melody together across different genres.

Leo has played at nightclubs in China and internationally, sharing stages with Dyro, Steve Aoki, Dannic, Makj, Markus Schulz and R3hab. He has also held multiple residencies and organised and promoted his own shows.

For Leo, a successful set depends on reading and connecting with the mood of the crowd. His performances draw on deep, hypnotic grooves and selections across genres, tempos and release dates that invite people to dance.

DJ Gerard’s The Hit List episode 16 with DJ Leo opens with Jazzmaster Funk’s Let Me Loose My Mind on Records DK before Carlos Striscia’s Station on Figuratio Records introduces Tech House. DMILE and Lorenzo Dotti’s Hot on Klap Music brings in Deep Tech House, while Nick Giano’s That Simple on Devise Black keeps the first hour firmly club-focused.

Charlie Banks follows with Don’t Trip on Talman Records, and Gianni Ruocco and Le Roi Carmona take the deeper route on The Silent Hill for Safe Music. Gennaro De Sarno’s Run on Baikonur Recordings then leads into Marttin’s Lux on Elegant Music, adding a Deep House shade to Gerard’s selection.

Prince Noir’s Infamous on OPENERS precedes Carlo Runia’s Whatever U Need on Days & Times, extending the deeper section of the first hour. Skizzo’s Let Me in Fellas on Flashmob Records follows, then Steve Blake’s A Good One and Dripton’s Steve Darko remix of Magic on Holy Molé Music bring the handover closer.

In the second hour, Leo begins with Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers’ Bappi on Hot Creations before Marshall Jefferson and Solardo’s Move Your Body on Ultra raises the pace. Matt Sassari’s Put A Record On on Cr2 Records Ltd and Dom Dolla’s San Frandisco on Spinnin’ Records keep the focus on direct, percussive Tech House.

Martin Ikin and Dope Earth Alien’s Headnoise (Get Hype) on Cr2 Records is followed by Juliet Sikora’s Beat Dance on Flashmob Records. Marco Anzalone’s Technologic on Glasgow Underground and Max Chapman’s Hey on Low:Res sustain the set’s brisk, late-night energy.

Leo closes the run with Reblok’s Smile on Hot Creations, Sidney Charles’ Fnk Hrd on Saved Records and Detlef’s Music Please on Repopulate Mars. JusMe’s Needs on Puro Music provides the final record, leaving the two-hour programme centred on House, Tech House and Deep Tech House rhythms.
