DJ Marco Mei, the veteran Italian DJ and producer behind Bicycle Corporation, returns with another edition of his long-running radio series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
With more than three decades behind the decks, Marco has developed a broad musical approach shaped by House, Deep House, Tech House, Disco, Techno and Afro-influenced rhythms. His experience across clubs, radio and international touring has given him an adaptable style built around careful selection and a strong understanding of the dancefloor.
Marco began DJing in Turin during the early 1990s as Italy’s underground electronic music scene was developing rapidly. Through his involvement with the Urban People collective, he became closely connected with local events, club culture and the wider House and Techno movement emerging around the city.
That period gave him experience in both DJing and event organisation before his reputation extended beyond Turin and across Italy. International opportunities followed as his profile continued to develop.
A residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh became an important stage in Marco’s international career. Further appearances followed at venues including Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City.
These bookings exposed him to a wide range of club cultures and audiences, strengthening the versatility that remains central to his work. Rather than relying on one fixed formula, Marco adapts his selections to the setting while retaining the musical foundations developed over decades behind the decks.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with fellow Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have developed a catalogue of more than fifty original productions and remixes released through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx.
The partnership combines Marco’s understanding of club programming and dancefloor structure with Stefano’s background in classical piano, percussion, drums and studio production. That balance allows Bicycle Corporation to work across different areas of House and Techno while maintaining a clear connection with underground electronic music.
Marco relocated to Taipei in 2010 and has remained closely connected with electronic music activity across Asia ever since. His position in the region brings together an extensive European background with direct experience of club scenes and artist communities across the continent.
Through his radio series on Scientific Sound Asia, Marco continues to present selections shaped by decades of collecting, performing and producing music. Each edition provides space for his broad musical interests while maintaining the careful pacing, versatility and club-focused approach that have defined his career.
DJ Marco Mei opens Episode 38 with Mia Moretti and Irma Thomas on Safe With Me, where David Morales brings a soulful start before DEFEX and BLONDEWEARINGBLACK tighten the rhythm with We Are The Beat. Delfonic's Saturday Night Dance and Cam Jones with Sunny Side and Ian Allen keep the opening rooted in House Music, while Brunello's Lost In The Mellow Circus introduces an Indie Dance turn and Galo's Marilu adds a brighter Funky House groove.
Dwayne Jensen's My People (Disco Nights Mix) pulls the programme towards the warmer depths of Deep House before Franky Rizardo's remix of Jonas Blue and Malive brings the rhythm back towards Tech House. Kassian's If You Want Me combines house foundations with a Nu Disco influence, while Loveface's Love Satisfaction pushes further into disco and boogie before Luke Alessi with William Kiss and Piem restore a firmer club pulse.
The Martinez Brothers' H2DAIZZO in Josh Baker's remix gives the middle of the set a leaner Minimal and Deep Tech character, tightening the percussion and creating one of the episode's clearest shifts in texture. Wh0 versus The Fog's Been A Long Time and Bruno Roth's Get Up The Funk then bring back a fuller House drive, balancing stripped club pressure with a more playful funk-led energy.
Charles Earland's Drifting in Laroye's rework introduces the rich instrumentation of Soulful House, providing a warmer contrast before D Stone's Everything From The Organ returns to a deeper groove. Darius Syrossian follows with Come To Me, reinforcing the dancefloor focus and carrying the programme naturally into its final run.
Dave Delly and Powl's Need In Me supply one last Tech House push before Janika Tenn's Going Down returns the selection to straightforward House. Jimmy McFoy's Love Me The Way You Like then brings an Italo Disco character into the closing stages, adding another vintage electronic influence to a set already rich in disco references.
LP Giobbi and Alex Kennon's Natura Umana closes Episode 38 with an expressive House finish, bringing the programme back to its central style after excursions through deeper, funkier and more minimal territory. Across the session, Marco Mei connects modern House with Deep House, Tech House, Indie Dance, Funky House, Nu Disco, Soulful House, Italo Disco and disco-rooted influences without losing the steady club momentum that holds the selection together.
