McCarty Shoot announce guest DJs for episode 6

McCarty Shoot episode 6 features guest DJs Qazal Dalir and Dadgar on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

McCarty Records was born from an encounter between Europe and the Middle East, and from the friendship of two longstanding music lovers. Both founders had worked in music for many years before combining their talents and enterprise to establish the label.

At the label's birth, both founders felt young and rebellious enough to welcome everyone and all musical genres represented in the electronic music catalogue. McCarty Records releases tracks across the spectrum, including Techno, Melodic, Deep Tech, Minimal and Tech House.

At the time of publication, McCarty Records presented a monthly hand-picked selection of fresh releases from the label, its guests and the international Techno world. Episode 6 brings that approach together through selections associated with Qazal Dalir and Dadgar.

Guest DJ Qazal Dalir (first hour)

In this show, the first DJ is Qazal Dalir, hailing from the capital of Iran. Qazal Dalir is not only a DJ but also a musician playing the piano and singing the vocals for her own music. Qazal started her career as a DJ over the last few years, with only a laptop and a pair of headphones as an introduction, before moving on to CDJs and controllers.

Her skills in harmonic mixing have made her a unique DJ in Tehran's underground rave scene which is mostly male. Other than her skills on the decks, it's her good vibes and the way she makes the crowd move that capture every raver's heart in the Iranian Techno scene.

Touring from city to city and playing at the most critical dance events of Iran have made her a household name amongst the new generation of ravers in her homeland. Qazal's sound is dark and groovy, and sometimes hard and melodic. Although she is new to music production, her first track 'Rare Situation' has received great feedback from the audience in the Iranian rave scene already.

Guest DJ Dadgar (second hour)

This episode's next guest DJ is Dadgar, Dadgar Mohajer Taleghani a.k.a Dadgar, is the Co-founder, the manager and the A&R of McCarty Records. Emerging from the underground (and of course illegal) scene of Tehran, Dadgar quickly made a name as a DJ/Producer amongst Techno lovers of Iran.

Dadgar started DJing at illegal underground raves in Tehran, accepting the challenges of being a DJ, where a rave is a crime! Then Dadgar met Ricky Busta, the former manager of Subwoofer Records.

Ricky is also a co-founder of McCarty Records and the manager and founder of Let's Techno Records. When they met and shared their ideas, after a year, they founded McCarty Records together.

Dadgar's sound is solid as he tells serious stories with his music. Stories about daily struggles with today's industrial society. He is heavily influenced by the German Techno sounds of the 90s', and in almost all of his tunes, classic sounds can be heard.

He works out vintage sounds, breakbeats, and sampled noise in company with the futuristic vibes of today's mainstream techno. Dadgar believes that today's electronic music lacks the original spirit of the early raves, and he defines his sound as Acid, Hard, Dark, Futuristic and sometimes Minimalistic. Dadgar has also been active as a pop and hip-hop producer and A&R since the mid-2000s.

Qazal Dalir opens the first hour of McCarty Shoot Episode 6 with Nory Yamasaki’s “Thunder,” a Deep Techno track built around the raw, deep and hypnotic side of techno. Simple Symmetry’s Adam Port edit of “Enkidu” immediately breaks from that framework with Indie Dance, before Yamasaki’s “Thunder” appears for a second time in the supplied tracklist.

Justin Jay precedes Reza Golroo, h3er and Christian Craken, with Craken’s “Drama” providing a clear Peak Time Techno entry. Sergio Brea, Dimi Mechero and another Reza Golroo production carry that harder club emphasis into the middle of Qazal Dalir’s hour.

Blacktextured and Monocoder’s TiM TASTE remix leads into two versions of Carbon’s “Cut The Crap,” followed by Shaded’s “Mad Stacks.” The latter is firmly Tech House, while Carbon’s “Club To Club” moves directly back into peak-time techno.

Rob Van Hell’s “Wormhole I” keeps the techno pressure high before Matt Sassari’s “Give It To Me” returns to tech house. Dadgar’s “Space Time Mind Body” closes Qazal Dalir’s hour after a set that moves principally between raw techno, peak-time techno and tech house, with the Simple Symmetry edit providing the clearest stylistic outlier.

Dadgar begins the second hour with “Nasty Desire,” a raw, deep and hypnotic techno release, before Carlos Almazan, Franco Rossi with Nico Keil and Rob Van Hell develop the programme’s heavier side. Rob Van Hell becomes a recurring presence through “Drill Mechanics,” “Downstairs” and later “Phase Jump,” with those productions closely aligned to modern peak-time techno.

Bongani and Stefan Nite lead into two unreleased Dadgar collaborations before MAUK and Adrian Oblanca take the set towards its final stretch. Stefan Nite, CYCLYCX and Dadgar then complete an hour centred overwhelmingly on Techno, with the unidentified track and unnamed promos left without invented classifications.
