Breed Intelligence is the project of Alexander McCann, a DJ, producer and label operator originally from London who was based in Spain at the time of this 2020 episode. His production style is built around bassy, dark and intelligent sounds that draw from over fifteen years of involvement in the underground party scene, with deep roots in London's electronic music community.
His approach resists confinement to a single genre, with a boundless passion for music that spans multiple areas of electronica. Returning to the scene with renewed purpose, this episode highlights tracks he had been developing in the studio, with releases planned for the months following the broadcast.
Breed Intelligence functions as both an alias and a record label, dedicated to giving exposure to new producers and artists from around the globe. &Them Records, the Spain-based label drawing from the darker and more minimal end of electronic music, return as co-hosts for another episode that previews their developing sound ahead of their upcoming releases.
The set opens with Be Svendsen's Scarecrow on Rebellion, establishing a low-slung Deep House foundation. Fideles follow with The Secret of Eos on Impressum, bringing in Melodic House and Techno textures.
Alan Woods' The Love House on Mellophonic introduces Progressive House, before Quivver's I'm Bob on Bedrock Records returns to melodic territory. Darlyn Vlys' Night Hunter on Beachcoma adds an Indie Dance edge, while Kasper Korman's Hi on Lost & Found sustains the progressive direction.
Undercatt's Atlantico on NOTTURNA keeps the melodic house and techno focus in place before Adriatique's Buchla's Dreaming on Afterlife introduces Techno. Nicole Moudaber and SCB's Seeing It Through on MOOD then raises the pressure with Peak Time Techno.
Einmusik's Pheasant on Einmusika Recordings introduces a tighter Tech House passage. Erly Tepshi's Miss You on Be Free Recordings and Wurtz featuring Iberian Muse's Algorithm on Three Hands Records bring Electro into the later section.
Marino Canal's Rubirosa on MOOD restores the peak-time techno intensity. Ae:Ther's Spektre II on Crosstown Rebels holds that firm rhythmic focus before the closing melodic material.
Ae:Ther's Raven on Afterlife Records softens the final stretch through melodic house and techno detail. Adriatique close with Ray, also on Afterlife Records, giving episode 5 a measured finish.

Co-hosting this week is &Them! Records, a Spain-based label drawing from the darker and more minimal end of electronic music, with artists including Pig and Dan and Boris Brejcha among their key influences. The label formed from a shared passion between two dance music enthusiasts, with Adolfo Llano, known as &Them, at its centre.
Adolfo was born in Oviedo, Spain and came into contact with electronic music from an early age. A period of study in Ireland in 2000 proved pivotal, when a Paul Oakenfold experience sparked a deeper interest that would develop into a lasting passion for the genre.
After years of travelling and experiencing music cultures across the world, he settled in Madrid in 2015. A connection with friend Mattia Torrione, known as Torrione, gave him a platform to begin demonstrating his skills behind the decks, moving across deep house and progressive and collaborating with DJs including Jaime O'Connor for Berlinale events across venues in the capital.
As co-hosts of the show, &Them! Records use the platform to preview material from their upcoming releases, giving listeners an early look at the sound they are building ahead of the official launch.
Breed Intelligence Episode 05 hands the full selection to &Them! Records for an episode that stays close to Melodic House and Techno throughout. Be Svendsen's Scarecrow opens with a warm Organic House quality, the Norwegian producer's desert-influenced sound establishing an atmospheric tone from the outset.

Adriatique's Buchlas Dreaming follows before Xenia and Greenjack's Kevlar and Nicole Moudaber and SCB's Seeing It Through push the set towards harder Techno and Peak Time territory.
Dushanbe's AfterU and Tropical Heat's Bart Skills sustain the driving direction before Einmusik's Pheasant and Erly Tepshi's Miss You return to Melodic House and Techno warmth.
Wurtz and Iberian Muse's Algorithm delivers a second Organic House moment, the duo returning from the previous episode's first hour with a similar earthy and atmospheric quality. Marino Canal's Rubirosa develops the Progressive House and Melodic direction before Ae:Ther contributes two consecutive selections, Spektre II and Raven, their presence giving the episode's closing section a focused and consistent identity.
Adriatique's Ray closes the episode, the Swiss duo bookending the selection with two appearances that frame Breed Intelligence 05 with some of the underground's most respected Melodic House and Techno programming.
