DJ Mawji Publishes Tracklist For Next Show 28th Of April 2020

Mawji published the tracklist for his weekly show of 28 April 2020 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Mawji, whose real name is Alizain Mawji, is a DJ and producer from Karachi in the south of Pakistan. His move towards electronic music began in 2012, when he attended underground music venues across Karachi, the country’s southernmost port city.

His teenage years as a raver developed his sense of rhythm and melody, and he shared his productions with fellow students during university. His early career as a DJ and producer in Pakistan was often tumultuous, while his vision focused on developing and bringing electronic expression into the arts.

Choosing to embrace electronic music in his home country showed both tenacity and acceptance within his community, setting aside preconceptions. His musical identity follows an approach that is culturally distinct from much of the underground music community.

His first show for Scientific Sound Asia featured tracks that he produced himself, while this edition presented a Trance-focused selection. The tracklist moves through established psytrance names and labels, with a later techtrance detour within its final stretch.

The programme opens in psytrance territory with Astrix’s Shamanic Tales, released on Shamanic Tales. Vertical Mode follows with Inside Your Head on Future Music Records, before GLO’s Glowin to Goa keeps the opening section focused.

Space Tribe’s Third Eye (Symbolic Waio Remix) brings a remixed turn on Future Music Records. Alpha Portal’s Creatures and Earthling’s Backstage Boys, also associated with Future Music Records, hold the set in the same psychedelic frame.

Lifeforms’ Datura on Future Music Records leads into Tristan’s Mimosa Dosa (Tristan Remix). Astrix’s Moonshine then precedes Ajja’s 2017 remix of Rubadux, returning to the Future Music Records catalogue.

Atmos shifts the pace with techtrance in My Uzi Weighs A Ton, listed through Krafted Underground. Burn In Noise answers with Truffle Shuffle on Future Music Records, placing the selection back among its predominant psytrance material.

Sonic Species’ The Force appears on Pharmacy Music before Scorb’s Extremis returns to Future Music Records. Starlab’s Distant World, also on Future Music Records, carries that label presence towards the close.

Talamasca closes the programme with Decisive Action, featuring DJ Fynex, and Golden Boy. Both selections are listed on Dacru Records, giving the final passage a clear label connection.
