Marco Mei, the veteran Italian DJ and producer behind Bicycle Corporation, returns with another edition of his long-running radio series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
With more than three decades behind the decks, Marco Mei has developed a broad musical approach shaped by House, Disco, Techno and Afro-influenced rhythms. His experience across clubs, radio and international touring has given him an adaptable style built around groove, pacing and careful track selection.
Marco began his career in Turin during the early 1990s and became closely involved with the city’s underground club culture. Through the Urban People collective, he helped organise events and club nights while developing his own identity as a DJ.
That period established Marco within Italy’s developing House and Techno scene before his work expanded beyond Turin. A residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh became an important step in his international career and led to further bookings outside Italy.
His touring history has included appearances at venues such as Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City. Performing across different countries and club environments broadened the experience behind the flexible approach he brings to his sets.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with fellow Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have developed a catalogue of more than fifty original tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House, Techno and related electronic styles.
Their releases have appeared through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx. The partnership combines Marco’s background in DJing and club culture with Stefano’s experience in musicianship, percussion and production.
Now based in Taipei, Marco remains closely connected with electronic music activity across Asia while maintaining the international perspective developed throughout his career. His position in the region brings together decades of European club experience with direct involvement in Asian nightlife and underground electronic music.
Through his continuing radio work with Scientific Sound Asia, Marco draws on that background to present selections across different areas of House and Techno. Each edition reflects the musical range, club experience and long-term connection with electronic music that continue to shape his work.
Marco Mei opens Episode 40 with Meli'sa Morgan's Still In Love and two versions of Nick Holder's Dance, Dance, Dance, establishing a strong House Music foundation from the outset. I Need 2 Dance and Without U keep the early section warm and groove-led before Funky Loffe's Street Dreams introduces the first clear Disco turn.
Pablo Bozzi's remix of Beppe Loda's Elettronica Virtuale brings the episode's only Mainstage selection before Munky Fike returns the mix to disco through Super Lover. Detroit Boogie Assemble's Same Old Story shifts into Deep House, while the Pound Boys bootleg of Angie Stone adds a Nu Disco flavour before Kinz. restores the direct house pulse.
Lefti's Disco Mix of Benny Benassi's Satisfaction keeps the crossover energy high before Bad Boy Bill and Avilo introduce Tech House with Baddest DJ. Ethan Denton's Fabulous Love then brings the programme into UK Garage, after which Alinka, Avision and Costa UK return the set to a steadier House-led run.
Dino Lenny's Not About The Volume, DJ Duke's Can You Feel It edit and Four Tet's 23mins36sec BoilerRoom maintain that house-focused middle and latter section with different shades of club pressure. Giorgio Moroder's The Chase in Sgt Slick's recut adds a Disco House twist before Galo's Marilu introduces the episode's sole Indie Tech selection.
Hifi Sean's Aretha, Hilit Kolet's remix of Lyric's She Got Dis and Oliver Dollar with Ben Silver and Boogs on Cosmic Weapon bring the episode to a close with three final House cuts. Across Episode 40, Marco Mei keeps House firmly at the centre while using Disco, Deep House, Nu Disco, Tech House, UK Garage, Mainstage and Indie Tech as short stylistic detours rather than dominant directions.
