Miami electronic artist and entrepreneur Eddy Palermo is preparing to combine two disciplines that normally demand complete concentration on their own. On 8th August 2026, he will attempt to run 50 kilometres through The Underline while delivering a continuous live DJ set, turning the city’s linear park into the course for BPMATHON.
The challenge is designed around a custom self-pushed DJ rig on wheels, allowing Palermo to control the music while moving along the route. AlphaTheta’s portable OMNIS-DUO forms the centre of the setup, while WAVE-EIGHT speakers will support the public audio experience. The proposed distance is longer than a marathon and the combined run and set are expected to take approximately seven hours.
BPMATHON is also a fundraiser for Friends of The Underline, the nonprofit responsible for the public space beneath Miami’s Metrorail. The organisation’s work connects parks, walking and cycling routes with community health, giving the project a purpose beyond the physical spectacle of a DJ completing an ultramarathon.
Palermo’s background makes the idea less improbable than it first sounds. Born in Miami to Cuban and Italian parents and raised in Weston, Florida, he discovered electronic music through Ultra Music Festival and later immersed himself in the city’s club culture at Club Space. Away from music, he completed fourteen endurance events between 2020 and 2025: seven Ironman competitions and seven marathons.
“BPMATHON is the fusion of endurance running with the magic of music,” Palermo explains. The concept grew from seeing shorter DJ runs online and asking why the distance could not be pushed to 50K. His own calculation is straightforward: either half of the task would be difficult by itself, and combining them creates a new test of stamina, coordination and focus.
Music will extend beyond the mobile booth. ZENSKI, the Miami events platform Palermo founded in 2024, is planning a live route activation that will bring runners, spectators and the local electronic music community together. ZENSKI has built its identity around immersive production, inclusive events and female-forward line-ups, placing club culture inside a public wellness initiative rather than a conventional venue.
For Palermo, the deeper measure of success is whether the attempt encourages somebody else to start moving or pursue an ambitious idea of their own. That makes BPMATHON part endurance feat, part electronic performance and part civic event—a distinctly Miami meeting point between music, movement and outdoor public space.
