Bicycle Corporation present Roots 97 on Scientific Sound Asia with guest DJ Brendon P. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, as well as a music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian partnership of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who also works as 6884. Their catalogue contains more than 50 releases across Techno, Deep House, House, Melodic and French House.
Marco began his career in the early 1990s within Italy's House Music and Techno scene, working as a crew member for events including Urban People. His work in the industry established his profile in Italy before leading to performances internationally.
Stefano grew up in Torino, Italy, and showed an aptitude for music from an early age. He studied classical piano and percussion, mastered the drums, admired Chopin's compositions and engaged with the complex rhythms of the West African djembe.
DJing became Stefano's strongest musical interest during his teenage years, when records and turntable culture were still relatively scarce on Italian radio. The beats and rhythms he heard in those records provided the direction for his later work in electronic music.
Creating and performing this music was an ambition Stefano pursued with determination. With Marco's support and their shared commitment, Bicycle Corporation emerged from that partnership.
Marco and Stefano have revisited some of their earlier tracks as part of their ongoing connection with the project's beginnings. Their Bandcamp page makes those recordings available for listeners returning to the duo's earlier work.
Bicycle Corporation are available for bookings through Scientific Sound Asia's DJ agency. Their Roots programme draws on Afrocentric sounds including Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, Jazz and Soul, alongside music from the wider electronic field.

DJ Brendon P, also known by his real name Brendon Perera, hails from Singapore and embodies a subtle, lo-fi approach to his artistry. With a career spanning nearly four decades and continuously evolving, Brendon boasts a wealth of experience within the club and music scene.
Brendon began his career in 1980 on the local mobile circuit and moved to clubs the next year. However, a pivotal trip to New York in 1984 significantly influenced his musical path.
While in New York, he explored legendary clubs such as the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and the Area. This deep dive into the vibrant New York club scene and the emerging house music movement made a profound and lasting impact on him.
Throughout his extensive DJ career, spanning an array of musical genres including House, Techno, Disco, Nu-Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, Brendon P has graced both local and international events. With roots firmly planted in the club scene since the 1980s, he has honed his skills, cultivating a discerning ear and an enduring passion for dance music.
Brendon P's distinguished career includes residencies with prominent groups such as Juliana’s and Bacchus in the '90s, along with performances with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX during the same era. He notably enjoyed a significant 9-year residency at the iconic Zouk Club in Singapore.
Furthermore, from July 2001 to May 2009, Brendon held a 2-year residency at Kyo and played a crucial role as part of the Residents team at the prestigious CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands for 4 and a half years.
Brendon continues to be a key figure in the local and international club scene today. His DJ sets have mesmerized audiences in cities worldwide, including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, Hong Kong, and more.
Brendon also had the honour of performing at the prestigious (and now defunct) Cielo Club in New York in June 2010. Furthermore, as a producer in his own right, Brendon has released original tracks and remixes on esteemed labels such as In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), and various others.
Brendon's unwavering dedication to musical style, sophistication, and meticulous attention to detail has earned him immense praise. Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York's renowned venues 'Cielo' and 'Output', lauds him as a 'taste master' and one of the top DJs in the region. DJ Brendon P opens Roots Episode 97 with Jean Claude Gavri’s treatment of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance,” establishing a strong Disco thread from the outset. Todh Teri follows before Prins Thomas remixes Seu Jorge, keeping the opening section tied to edits, reworks and contemporary interpretations of older dance music.
Ronny Hammond and Prince precede Boys' Shorts’ edit of Eighth Wonder, after which Todh Teri appears for a second time with “Sampadan 31.” Horse Meat Disco and The Phenomenal Handclap Band then move firmly into Nu Disco with Ray Mang’s extended remix of “Sanctuary,” officially classified as Nu Disco / Indie Dance.
Lazywax, In Flagranti and David Joseph keep the disco and boogie influence prominent before Recut leads into Kokolo’s Bosq remix of “How We Gonna Work It Out.” Sentimental Animals featuring Nicki B then bring in Funk through Art Of Tones’ remix of “Love Vibration,” a version described by the label as a rolling funk treatment within a release rooted in disco, house and nu-disco.
Hamza Rahimtula shifts the selection towards Organic House with “Neon Afro,” taken from his Banjara Series, Mali project. Wind Horse describes that collection as ethnic and organic house with disco elements, giving Brendon P’s set a clear Afro-influenced passage without separating it from the wider house framework.
Gledd and Col Lawton return the set towards House Music before Barbara Tucker introduces another classic vocal-house reference through Henry Greenwood’s Communion Mix of “I Get Lifted.” Erro follows with Stephen Day’s disco treatment of “Change For Me,” extending the vocal and soulful character of the closing section.
Kid Creole & The Coconuts finish Roots Episode 97 through Leo Zero’s edit of “There But For The Grace Of God,” ending the programme where much of it began: around disco, funk and re-edited dance music. Brendon P’s selection is therefore led by nu-disco and disco, with house, funk and organic influences supporting a set built heavily around edits and reinterpretations.
