DJ Marco Mei, the veteran Italian DJ and producer behind Bicycle Corporation, returns with another edition of his long-running radio series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
With more than three decades behind the decks, Marco has developed an adaptable style shaped by House, Deep House, Tech House, Disco and Techno. His broad musical knowledge and understanding of different club audiences have made him a respected figure across Europe and Asia.
Marco began DJing in Turin during the early 1990s as Italy’s underground club scene was expanding rapidly. Through his involvement with the Urban People collective, he became closely connected with local events, club culture and the wider electronic music community.
That early experience gave him a foundation in both DJing and event organisation. As his reputation developed, bookings extended beyond Turin and eventually across Italy before opening the way to international appearances.
A residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh became an important stage in his career. It introduced Marco to a wider international audience and helped establish the global path that followed.
Over the years, he has performed at clubs and venues across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Appearances have included Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with fellow Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together they have built a catalogue of more than fifty original productions and remixes covering a broad range of club-focused and melodic electronic music.
Their releases have appeared through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx. The partnership combines Marco’s experience of dancefloor structure and programming with Stefano’s background in instrumentation, rhythm and studio production.
That balance allows Bicycle Corporation to move between rhythm-led material and more melodic productions without reducing the project to one fixed formula. Their work reflects the wide musical interests both artists have developed throughout their careers.
Marco has been based in Taipei for many years and remains closely connected with electronic music activity across Asia. His position in the region allows him to combine an extensive European background with direct experience of club cultures and artist communities across the continent.
Alongside club performances and production, radio has become an important outlet for his selections. The longer format gives him room to explore different moods, tempos and influences while maintaining the careful pacing developed through decades of DJing.
Marco is also represented through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his radio series continues through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station. Each edition reflects the depth of experience behind his career while keeping the focus on current records, dancefloor structure and musical progression.
DJ Marco Mei opens Episode 36 with Crateburg’s Sinna Mann in the Junior Sanchez remix, setting a warm House Music foundation before Denis Sulta’s DKY (But I Do) keeps the early section bright and rhythmic. Be The Dancer introduces a stronger Disco influence, while Damiano Von Erckert’s remix of DJ Frank and Maria Basel adds a deeper, more soulful house character.
Patrick Topping’s extended remix of Armand Van Helden and Hitty pushes the mix towards a more direct club sound before All Over The World and DJ Dove’s Lonely No More restore a warmer vocal groove. Easttown, Ejeca and Emanuele Modigliani maintain the House focus with clean percussion and rolling basslines, while Jerome Sydenham and Tiger Stripes add a tougher edge through F12.
Gianni Firmaio’s Deckman brings Tech House more clearly into the session, followed by Kolter’s Love Dancing and the Melvo Baptiste and AMicity remix of Recloose and Joe Dukie’s Dust. Harry Romero’s remix of Radio Slave and Kameelah Waheed keeps the House energy strong before ANOTR’s Let Me Tell You returns to a tighter, club-focused groove.
Rockwell’s Somebody’s Watching Me in the Badhabit edit revives the Disco influence with a more contemporary treatment before Ben Sims raises the pressure through the harder drive of Ain’t No Stoppin’. Blackchild (ITA) continues the tougher latter section with Psycho Killer, giving the mix a sharper rhythmic contrast before the closing tracks bring back richer vocals and classic house references.
Afak’s Lynn begins the final stretch before Melvo Baptiste and Annette Bowen’s Did You Pray Today arrives in Dave Lee’s Redemption Mix, strengthening the Funky House and Disco House character. Masters At Work, Lood and Donell Rush follow with Blackchild’s remix of Shout N Out, while Metropolis closes Episode 36 with New York Is My Kind Of Town, ending the set on a distinctly classic New York disco-house note.
