DJ Joshua announces his track list for Velvety Elements 299.

Scientific Sound Asia presents a new edition of Velvety Elements, hosted by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Remaining aligned with the station’s commitment to underground culture, the series continues to explore house music shaped by soul, groove and emotional depth, connecting artists and listeners across Asia and beyond.

Based in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the 1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture.

While his journey has passed through techno, drum and bass and chillout, house music has consistently remained at the core of his artistic identity. During quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, Joshua played an active role in keeping it alive, organising events and working closely with fellow DJs and producers to maintain creative momentum.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed focus, launching Floating Beats, a series recognised for its melodic and forward-looking direction. Velvety Elements followed as a complementary project, dedicated to deeper, warmer and more soulful expressions of house music.

Working under several aliases including K Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand and Joshua Onairam, he continues to explore multiple creative perspectives. Each identity reflects a distinct facet of his sound, ranging from rhythm-led minimalism to emotionally driven melodic expression.

In 2024, Joshua founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own productions while supporting underground artists committed to authenticity and musical depth. Recent output reflects a period of strong creative momentum.

Under the Joshua Marian name, the 2024 Nobody Waiting For Me EP on Back to the Beat delivered an organ-led title track alongside the nostalgic tones of I Love You, both rooted firmly in classic house traditions. Follow-up releases such as Just Love and Chance With Soul expanded this palette further, blending groove with subtle emotional nuance.

In 2025, his K Joshua single Light of Faith introduced a more introspective approach, pairing deep house rhythms with melodic phrasing that balances reflection and forward motion. Through Velvety Elements, Joshua continues to articulate the essence of his musical vision, with each episode unfolding as a warm, flowing journey that honours the enduring soul of house music.

The episode opens with House-rooted selections from Intr0beatz and Byron the Aquarius, establishing a steady groove built around rhythm and restraint. These early tracks set a grounded tone, easing into the mix without rushing the pace.

As the show develops, the focus shifts further into Deep House through Danny B’s Don’t Look Back and Franck Roger’s Strings For Life. DJ Joshua’s own Little Gift follows naturally, reinforcing the episode’s warm, stripped-back direction with a personal production that sits comfortably alongside the surrounding selections.

The middle section continues with Deep House cuts from Alejandro Mosso and Tilman, maintaining a consistent flow and understated progression. People’s Floor by Joshua Marian appears here, extending the Deep House thread while keeping the emphasis on groove rather than embellishment.

The closing stretch blends House and Minimal and Deep Tech influences, moving through Stereo by Tony Hewitt and Ben A before returning to House with Josh Butler’s Living Easy. The episode concludes with a cohesive balance of Deep House and House, reflecting the steady, uncluttered approach that defines Velvety Elements.
