DJ Joshua publishes an amazing playlist for Floating Beats 757

Floating Beats 757 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running electronic music show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been involved with electronic music since the mid-1990s, developing his knowledge through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and later digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, giving his selections a broad foundation across several generations of electronic music.

Even during quieter periods for Portugal's underground scene, Joshua remained involved through event organisation, collaboration and support for local artists. After stepping away from regular DJing to concentrate on family life, he eventually returned through Floating Beats and gradually rebuilt his presence in radio.

The programme has since become an outlet for deeper, progressive and underground electronic music. Joshua approaches each episode through atmosphere and controlled progression, allowing tracks to develop naturally rather than relying on abrupt changes or constant peak-time pressure.

Alongside the radio show, Joshua produces under several aliases that allow different areas of his studio work to develop independently. As Joshua Fernand, he concentrates primarily on contemporary Techno, with releases including Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal through his own JFLM Recordings.

Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take the Joshua Fernand project into darker and more hypnotic territory. Repetition, tension and stripped-back rhythmic structures give those tracks a different character from the warmer House material found elsewhere in his catalogue.

Killer's Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings introduces a more melodic side of the same alias through layered synth work and Melodic House and Techno structures. The track provides a bridge between Joshua's tougher Techno productions and the more atmospheric material that regularly appears throughout Floating Beats.

His Joshua Marian alias occupies the deeper and more soulful side of his production work, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow. Material under that name has appeared through labels including Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda, drawing on warmer melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythms.

The K Joshua project moves further towards raw and experimental electronic music. Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records explore hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences.

Using several aliases gives Joshua room to explore contrasting ideas without forcing every release into a single musical identity. Joshua Fernand carries much of his Techno-focused material, Joshua Marian concentrates on deeper House influences, while K Joshua provides space for more experimental and atmospheric directions.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his productions and collaborative projects. The label gives him greater control over his releases while providing a dedicated home for music that reflects the different areas of his studio work.

DJ Joshua opens Floating Beats 757 with Trecci's "Ashes Beneath The Flood", bringing a Melodic House and Techno introduction before Subb-an's "Feel The Rise" shifts the set towards a more direct House Music groove. Funk D'Void and Alex Clavijo follow with "Til The End", adding the tighter rhythmic pull of Tech House as the opening section starts to gain weight.

Rocco Rodamaal's "House Jam", Deetron's "Flow" in its Chord Dub form and the Zombies In Miami Latino Dream remix of Alfonsvs presents Rave Child keep the middle of the programme rooted in house while changing the texture from track to track. The sequence remains groove-led rather than overly melodic, giving Joshua room to move gradually towards the darker material that dominates the latter half.

Vince Watson's "Eccentricity" marks the decisive turn into Deep Techno, followed by Ian O'Donovan's "Beam Me Up" and Koichi Sugimoto's remix of Nobuharu Morimoto's "Dontenmoyou". Hollen's "Temporal Grain" continues that raw, hypnotic direction on Planet Rhythm, tightening the percussion and pushing the set further away from its house-led opening.

Antony Dupont closes with "My Transmission", bringing the harder drive of Peak Time Techno into the final stretch. The overall progression gives Episode 757 a clear shape, beginning with melodic and house-oriented material before moving steadily into deeper, more forceful Techno for the finish.

Make sure to tune in to his live radio show on Monday, August 24th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you're unable to catch the live broadcast, you can listen to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
