Scientific Sound Asia presented the second edition of Our House Laboratory Edition at The Lab - Shots & More in District 1, moving the House Music series into a new venue after its Halloween-themed launch. The Laboratory Edition kept the formula straightforward with free entry, upfront House Music and a line-up built from selectors connected with Ho Chi Minh City and the wider regional scene.

The night focused on House Music and several of its club-focused branches, including Deep House, Tech House and G-House. Fresh UK-influenced selections added another strand to the programme, giving each DJ room to approach the dancefloor from a slightly different direction.

The event retained the accessible character of the first Our House edition by keeping admission completely free. Guests were simply invited to bring themselves, a positive attitude and enough energy for an evening built around underground House rather than an elaborate ticketed production.

The Lab - Shots & More offered several different spaces across the building, including two bars, a rooftop area and three floors. Its laboratory-inspired identity fitted naturally with the name of the edition, allowing Scientific Sound Asia to shift Our House into a different setting without changing the series’ musical focus.

The venue also advertised more than 100 different shots alongside cocktails, beers and balloons, giving the party a deliberately informal bar atmosphere. Guests could move between the busier music areas and the rooftop rather than remaining in one enclosed dancefloor space for the entire night.

An early drinks promotion ran from 9 PM until 11 PM with buy-one-get-one-free Tiger Beer. That gave the first part of the evening a relaxed entry point before the DJs pushed further into the House Music programme.

DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia and concentrated on Deep House and Tech House for the Laboratory Edition. His appearance linked Our House directly with the organisation’s broader history of radio broadcasting, club events and underground electronic music in Vietnam.

His DJ background stretches across Hip Hop, Acid House, Hardcore, Jungle, Drum and Bass, House and several strands of UK rave culture. For Our House, however, the emphasis was deliberately narrower, allowing him to concentrate on deeper grooves and tech-led House selections suited to the concept of the series.

DJ Psycho-UK had already appeared across numerous Ho Chi Minh City venues by this period and was also developing Scientific Sound Asia as an event promoter, radio station and artist platform. His role behind the decks therefore connected directly with the organisation responsible for building the Our House night.

Scott Matthew travelled down from Nha Trang, where he had been active with weekly DJ shows around the coastal city. His appearance brought another Vietnam-based selector into the line-up and added a Scottish perspective to the House Music programme.

His set was described around House Music flavours rather than one rigid subgenre. That flexibility suited a night moving between deeper records, tech-led rhythms and more energetic material as the evening developed.

Scott’s involvement also reflected the connections that existed between electronic music communities in different Vietnamese cities. Bringing a selector from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City gave the Laboratory Edition a wider local reach without depending on a major international headline booking.

Snookie added another direct connection with the United Kingdom after returning to Vietnam following an extended period back home. His selections were built around fresh cuts from the UK House scene, giving the night a contemporary British club influence.

That role complemented the deeper selections elsewhere on the bill and allowed Our House to include newer records entering circulation in Britain at the time. The emphasis remained on dancefloor music rather than trying to recreate an older House era through nostalgia.

Al Loudvoic brought a tougher edge to the Laboratory Edition through Tech House, Deep House and G-House. The Slovakian DJ and producer approached the event from a more club-driven direction, adding heavier basslines and firmer rhythmic pressure to the line-up.

G-House gave his contribution another character within a night already covering several different forms of House Music. Its combination of House rhythms, low-end weight and Hip Hop-influenced attitude created a useful contrast with the deeper and more conventional Tech House selections heard elsewhere.

Together, DJ Psycho-UK, Scott Matthew, Snookie and Al Loudvoic gave the second Our House edition four different interpretations of the same broad musical foundation. Deep House, Tech House, G-House and UK-influenced House could move alongside one another without turning the night into an unfocused multi-genre event.

That consistency was important for a new series still establishing its identity within Ho Chi Minh City nightlife. Rather than changing direction completely after the first event, Scientific Sound Asia kept House Music at the centre while changing the venue, artists and atmosphere surrounding it.

The Laboratory Edition also showed that Our House was intended to continue beyond its Halloween launch. The first edition at Nymphes had used ghosts, costumes and spooky DJ names to introduce the concept, while the second moved away from the seasonal theme and allowed the music itself to define the event.

Moving to The Lab gave the series an opportunity to work with a venue offering several distinct social spaces. Guests could dance downstairs, move between the bars or take a break on the rooftop while the music continued elsewhere in the building.

That layout made the event suitable for people who wanted more than a single dark dancefloor experience. The House Music remained central, but the setting allowed conversation, drinks and rooftop socialising to exist alongside the DJ programme.

Free entry also helped preserve the informal identity of Our House. Rather than presenting the night as an exclusive club event, Scientific Sound Asia used an open-door format that made it easier for new listeners to encounter the DJs and the different sides of underground House Music being represented.

The series formed part of Scientific Sound Asia’s broader activity across Ho Chi Minh City during this period. Its history now sits within the organisation’s current events archive, alongside its radio station, DJ agency and music news coverage.

Scientific Sound Asia continued using the Our House name in later years, retaining House Music as the foundation while bringing different selectors and related styles into the format. A later edition documented on the current site similarly centred on House, Deep House and Tech House, showing the concept’s continued connection with those genres.

The Laboratory Edition therefore represents an early stage in a House Music series that would continue beyond its original venue. DJ Psycho-UK, Scott Matthew, Snookie and Al Loudvoic brought different regional and international influences into a free-entry District 1 party without losing the straightforward idea behind Our House.

The Lab - Shots & More has since closed, but the event remains part of Scientific Sound Asia’s archive of former Ho Chi Minh City nightlife spaces. With House Music across three floors, an early Tiger Beer promotion and a rooftop available for anyone needing a break from the laboratory, the second Our House edition kept the experiment focused firmly on the dancefloor.
