Esher at DnB Saigon, Drum and Bass Night at Tonic Rooftop

Event Details

This event took place at Tonic Rooftop Bar, 79 Quốc Hương, An Khánh, Thủ Đức, Ho Chi Minh City, from 9 PM on 16 May 2026. Scientific Sound Asia presented another edition of DnB Saigon, bringing Melbourne producer Esher together with Jangala, Skitty, DJ Psycho-UK and Darkus for a free-entry night centred on underground bass music.

Esher headed the line-up with a production style rooted in Drum and Bass, but informed by earlier experience with Trance, Techno and Dubstep. Detailed percussion, deep atmospheres and substantial bass weight sit at the centre of his work, giving his tracks a balance between technical construction and physical dancefloor pressure.

His track The Imposter gained early support through Spotify’s DnB Massive playlist and helped widen attention around his music. Further releases followed through Phase Records, Brain Rave, Onset Audio, Magnum Opus and Abyssal Music, placing his productions across several international Drum and Bass outlets.

Esher had also shared line-ups with artists including Andy C, Sub Focus, Hybrid Minds and Netsky before arriving in Ho Chi Minh City. Those appearances reflected a growing profile within the wider Drum and Bass circuit while allowing him to develop a sound that could move between deeper atmosphere and more forceful club energy.

Jangala brought a broader bass-music perspective to the night, with selections drawing from breakbeat-led styles, heavy low-end and percussive rhythms. Her approach allowed the programme to move outside straight four-to-the-floor structures while still maintaining the drive and continuity needed for a focused dancefloor session.

The combination of Esher and Jangala gave the event a strong international component without turning the night into an isolated touring showcase. Their appearances sat alongside selectors already closely connected with Scientific Sound Asia’s continuing Drum and Bass activity in Ho Chi Minh City.

Skitty added a direct connection with UK Jungle and Drum and Bass history through releases associated with Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles and Foundation X. His darker and more technical selections provided another contrast to Esher’s contemporary production style while keeping the night rooted in the underground side of the genre.

DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia with a background stretching from East London Hip Hop and rave culture into Jungle and Drum and Bass. His role connected the May session with the organisation’s longer history of bass events in Vietnam and with the resident-led DnB Saigon format that had developed around Tonic.

Darkus completed the support programme and brought a heavier direction into the line-up. His presence alongside Skitty and DJ Psycho-UK gave the event additional depth on the local side, with several different interpretations of Drum and Bass represented across the night.

The May edition followed the DnB Saigon rooftop session on 14 March 2026, which featured DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Throe and Dobbo. That earlier event established the recurring rooftop format at Tonic and kept the focus on locally based selectors between larger international bookings.

A second rooftop edition followed on 11 April with Skitty, Darkus, Dobbo, DJ Psycho-UK and Mango, continuing the community-led format before Esher and Jangala arrived in May. The sequence showed DnB Saigon developing from a local resident night into a flexible series able to accommodate both international guests and familiar names from the Ho Chi Minh City scene.

Tonic Rooftop Bar remained central to that development, providing an open-air alternative to the enclosed club spaces more traditionally associated with Drum and Bass. City views, a smaller capacity and direct access to the DJs gave the event a relaxed community character while the music itself remained focused on bass pressure and high-energy rhythms.

Entry was free and the event was explicitly promoted as drug-free, with illicit substances strictly prohibited. The policy continued Scientific Sound Asia’s post-raid approach of keeping attention on music, people and positive energy while maintaining regular underground events in the city.

Scientific Sound Asia’s wider activity connects these nights with its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. The Esher edition represented another step in that work, linking Melbourne Drum and Bass with Vietnam-based selectors through a free rooftop event in Thủ Đức.

DnB Saigon with Esher therefore brought together international and local perspectives without overcomplicating the format. Esher, Jangala, Skitty, DJ Psycho-UK and Darkus delivered a night moving through Drum and Bass, Jungle, Breakbeat, Dubstep influence and underground bass music while keeping the emphasis on community and the dancefloor.
