Drum and Bass with Yussi at Sky 9 Bar Saigon

This event took place at Sky 9 Bar Saigon, 41 Thái Ly, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Ho Chi Minh City, from 9 PM on 22 August 2025 until 3 AM on 23 August 2025. Scientific Sound Asia presented Australian DJ and producer Yussi for a rooftop session dedicated entirely to Drum and Bass and underground bass music.

The booking followed Yussi's appearances at Defqon.1 in the Netherlands and Rabbits Eat Lettuce in Australia, bringing his international festival momentum directly to Ho Chi Minh City. Sky 9 Bar provided an open-air setting with city views, giving the night a different character from the darker enclosed venues commonly associated with bass music.

Yussi has developed his reputation through sets combining raw low-frequency weight, technical rollers and emotionally charged melodic sections. His approach to Drum and Bass balances underground pressure with enough movement and dynamic range to work on larger dancefloors and festival stages.

Sharp transitions allow his sets to move quickly between different energies without losing continuity. Atmospheric breakdowns can sit beside heavier bass-driven passages and anthemic builds, creating a programme that remains intense without staying locked into one narrow interpretation of the genre.

Scientific Sound Asia promoted the night with a 100 percent Drum and Bass music policy rather than mixing unrelated electronic styles into the programme. That focus gave local listeners the opportunity to hear Yussi within the musical setting most closely associated with his international DJ work.

Support came from Skitty, DJ Psycho-UK and Dobbo, linking the Australian guest with selectors already connected to Ho Chi Minh City's bass music community. Their backgrounds brought UK-rooted Jungle, Drum and Bass and wider bass influences into the local side of the programme.

Skitty brought extensive experience through releases connected with Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles and his own Foundation X imprint. His darker and more technical Drum and Bass background provided a direct link with the British underground tradition that has long influenced Scientific Sound Asia's bass programming.

DJ Psycho-UK added his East London roots across Hip Hop, Hardcore, Jungle and Drum and Bass, continuing a role he has played across many Scientific Sound Asia events in Vietnam. Dobbo brought raw bass selections and a less predictable edge, giving the supporting programme another contrast before and around Yussi's headline appearance.

The event followed a strong run of international Drum and Bass bookings during 2025, including 35 Years of Formation Records with Grooverider and DJ SS and Sublow Hz live in Ho Chi Minh City. Those events represented different parts of the genre's history, while Yussi brought a more contemporary Australian connection into the same developing programme.

Earlier in April, General Levy's Jungle and Drum and Bass special had added UK sound-system and Jungle heritage to the year's schedule. By August, the Yussi booking demonstrated how the programme could move from foundational artists and established labels towards newer international performers active on current festival circuits.

Tickets were offered at 150,000 VND for Super Early Bird, 225,000 VND for Early Bird and 300,000 VND for Standard Entry, with the archived listing noting that each advance tier included a house drink. Capacity was limited, reinforcing the smaller rooftop character of the event despite Yussi's recent appearances on significantly larger international stages.

Scientific Sound Asia's wider activity connects these live bookings with its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. The Sky 9 Bar session formed part of that continuing effort to connect visiting international artists with locally based selectors and audiences interested in underground electronic music.

Yussi's Saigon appearance ultimately brought a festival-tested Australian Drum and Bass sound into a much more intimate rooftop environment in Thảo Điền. With Skitty, DJ Psycho-UK and Dobbo providing local support, the night connected global bass culture with Scientific Sound Asia's continuing Drum and Bass activity in Ho Chi Minh City.
