This event took place at Night Life Bar, 8/21 Đường 49B, Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức, Ho Chi Minh City 700000, from 9 PM on 22 June 2024 until 3 AM on 23 June 2024. The venue has since closed, but the original location has been retained for archive accuracy.
After a short break, Scientific Sound Asia returned to Night Life Bar with DnB Saigon 2, continuing the biweekly series launched the previous month. The event kept the format focused on Drum and Bass, Jungle and underground bass music in Thảo Điền.
The second edition followed the first DnB Saigon at Night Life Bar, which had introduced the resident-led concept with DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Throe, Dobbo and Robson Jr. Returning to the same venue gave the series continuity while changing the line-up enough to keep the programme fresh.
By this point, Drum and Bass had started to make a clear return across Ho Chi Minh City, with dedicated nights appearing at different venues and larger international bookings beginning to sit alongside local sessions. DnB Saigon 2 formed part of that rebuilding period by concentrating on selectors already connected with the city’s bass community.
The line-up featured DJ Psycho-UK, Dobbo, Mango, Helix Squared and a special guest. Rather than centring the event around a touring headline artist, the programme remained community-led and gave each selector space within a six-hour night.
DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia and brought a musical background shaped by East London Hip Hop, Hardcore, Jungle and Drum and Bass. His involvement connected the series with the organisation’s longer history of supporting bass music in Vietnam through events, radio and artist activity.
Dobbo returned after appearing at the first edition and brought another raw, bass-focused perspective to the programme. His selections gave the series continuity while allowing the musical direction to move between heavier pressure, rolling material and less predictable underground choices.
Mango added another locally connected selector to the second edition and broadened the resident side of the line-up. His appearance reflected the purpose of DnB Saigon as a recurring platform where different DJs from the city could appear without requiring a large international booking every time.
Helix Squared also joined the programme and added another voice to the local Drum and Bass network. The surviving event information does not provide enough verified background to expand the biography responsibly, so the archive retains the appearance without adding unsupported claims.
The original listing also advertised a special guest without naming the artist. That detail is preserved exactly rather than attempting to identify the performer retrospectively without reliable evidence.
Entry remained deliberately affordable at 50,000 VND, described in the original event listing as “cheap as chips”. That low-cost approach helped position DnB Saigon as a regular community night rather than a premium headline event.
Night Life Bar provided the same compact Thảo Điền setting used for the launch edition. A smaller venue, straightforward door price and focused music policy suited a series intended to build consistency around Drum and Bass rather than depend on spectacle.
The return also followed the momentum created by 30 Years of V Recordings Vietnam, which had brought Bryan Gee, Paul T and Edward Oberon to Ho Chi Minh City earlier in 2024. That event represented the international side of the scene, while DnB Saigon provided a regular local counterpart between major bookings.
Scientific Sound Asia’s wider work connects these events through its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. DnB Saigon 2 belongs to the period when regular local nights were helping rebuild a dedicated audience for Jungle and Drum and Bass in Ho Chi Minh City.
Night Life Bar has since closed, but the second edition remains part of that archive as another step in the return of dedicated bass events to Thảo Điền. With DJ Psycho-UK, Dobbo, Mango, Helix Squared and an unnamed special guest, the night kept the formula simple: affordable entry, focused selections and six hours centred entirely on Drum and Bass culture.
