RK9

RK9 is an alias of multidisciplinary artist Joeri Jungschlager, a producer and DJ known for creating heavy drum and bass and breakcore rooted in DIY hardcore ethics. Under the RK9 name, he writes, records and composes his own music while also performing as a DJ and live artist, combining aggressive rhythmic structures with experimental sound design.
His productions blend elements of drum and bass, breakcore and hardcore-influenced electronic music, often incorporating unconventional recording techniques and creative studio methods. Drawing on influences beyond electronic music, he frequently integrates live instrumentation such as guitar recordings alongside processed audio textures, shaping tracks that merge distorted rhythm with cinematic sound design.
Through this approach, RK9 has developed a distinctive sound characterised by intense break patterns, heavy basslines and layered sonic detail. His work often reflects a crossover between underground electronic music and hardcore punk aesthetics, emphasising raw energy and creative experimentation rather than polished commercial production.
These qualities have led to performances at respected underground events and festivals, including PRSPCT, Parabellum and CCC, where his sets present a powerful combination of breakcore intensity and drum and bass rhythm. He has also appeared on international line-ups, performing for audiences within the global hardcore and bass music community.
As a producer, RK9 has released music on several independent labels, including Moveton and NBE Records, while also contributing tracks to compilations such as the Nothing But Drum and Bass Weapons series. His releases explore a wide spectrum of break-driven electronic music while maintaining a strong connection to underground culture.
His performances are designed as immersive experiences rather than conventional DJ sets. Alongside DJ appearances, he has also presented live shows where electronica elements are combined with live musicians, creating a hybrid performance format that reflects the experimental nature of his productions. He frequently collaborates with other DJs and producers, preparing exclusive material for his DJ sets and live performances.
In late 2019, he co-founded NBE Records, also known as Not Broken Enough, together with another breakcore producer. The label was created as a platform for uncompromising underground music and has since released material ranging from breakcore and drum and bass to hardcore punk and rap metal. Through this project, RK9 continues to support artists working across the more experimental and aggressive edges of electronic and alternative music.
Through both his studio work and live performances, RK9 remains committed to pushing the boundaries of break-driven electronic music while maintaining the independent spirit and creative freedom associated with underground DIY culture.
