Jan Capozziello
Jan is a DJ from Connecticut in the United States with more than twenty years of experience behind the decks. Known for his ability to move the dancefloor, he has developed a style built on smooth mixing and an instinctive understanding of crowd energy. His sets often blend current club tracks with classic favourites, creating a sound that bridges different eras of electronic and urban dance music.
He began learning the fundamentals of DJing long before digital tools became common, mastering beatmatching on vinyl and releasing his first mixtape on cassette. This early experience shaped a technical approach rooted in traditional DJ culture, where track selection and mixing skills remain central to the performance.
Jan’s interest in DJing began during his childhood when he would stay up late listening to radio shows from influential New York DJs such as Kool DJ Red Alert. Artists including Funkmaster Flex, Jam Master Jay, Eric B and Kid Capri became early inspirations, leading him to begin his career within the hip hop scene. As the electronic music movement grew during the early 1990s, he developed a strong interest in house music as well.
During this period, he regularly attended events across the East Coast, including Danny Tenaglia’s well-known Be Yourself parties at Vinyl in New York City. These experiences helped shape his appreciation for underground house music and the club culture that surrounded it.
Alongside DJing, Jan became involved in event promotion during the late 1990s, working with the party brand Caffeine and later organising his own events through his partnership company Scientific Sound. Through these projects, he helped present electronic music events and build connections within the wider dance music community.
Throughout his career, he has performed alongside a wide range of artists from across the electronic and urban music spectrum. These include performers such as Getter, ill.Gates, Darren Styles, Gammer, Justin Prime, Angerfist, Zatox, B Real, Bizzy Bone, Wildstylez, Run DMT, Downlink, Audiofreq, Lady Faith, Helicopter Showdown, DJ Dan, Deekline, Frankie Bones, Heather Heart, Scot Project, Donald Glaude, Botnek, Organ Donors, M.I.K.E. Push, Kennedy Jones, Lisa Lashes, Isaac, Noisecontrollers, Vinylgroover, Bad Boy Bill, Liquid Stranger, Far Too Loud, Friction, Dieselboy, Aphrodite, DJ Icey, DJ Assault, Dara, John B, Delta 9, Christopher Lawrence, DJ Venom, Zany, A Sides, Edward Oberon, D.A.V.E. With decades of experience performing across clubs and events, Jan continues to deliver energetic DJ sets built on technical mixing and a wide musical range. He remains active as both a performer and promoter while maintaining strong connections with underground dance music culture.
