Bicycle Corporation is the Italian production and DJ partnership of Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their catalogue spans Deep House, Tech House, French House, Techno and other areas of underground electronic music.
Marco began his career in Turin during the early 1990s and became closely involved with the Urban People collective. Through organising events and DJing around the city, he developed a strong understanding of club culture and gradually built a reputation across Italy.
That growing profile later led to international bookings and opportunities outside his home country. Over time, Marco’s work took him across Europe and Asia, where he continued to develop his approach through different club environments and audiences.
Stefano’s musical background developed from a different starting point. Raised in Turin, he studied classical piano, percussion and drums while also developing an appreciation for Chopin and West African djembe.
As a teenager, he became increasingly fascinated by DJ culture and the electronic music that was still difficult to hear on mainstream Italian radio during the 1990s. That curiosity eventually pushed him towards production and the studio work that would later become central to Bicycle Corporation.
The partnership brought Marco’s experience as a DJ together with Stefano’s instrumental training and production skills. That combination gave Bicycle Corporation the flexibility to create both club-focused tracks and more melodic material without restricting the project to one narrow direction.
Their releases have built steadily over the years, with more than fifty original productions and remixes forming part of the wider catalogue. Earlier material has also been revisited through their Bandcamp page, giving listeners direct access to tracks from different stages of the project.
Despite the international reach of their work, both artists remain closely connected with the musical foundations that shaped them. Those earlier influences are central to Roots, which looks beyond current club trends and focuses on the records, ideas and artists that have helped shape electronic music culture.

This week’s guest DJ is Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, a Singaporean DJ and producer with more than four decades behind the decks. Known for maintaining a relatively low-profile approach to his career, he has built an extensive history across clubs, radio, international performances and production.
Brendon began in Singapore’s mobile DJ circuit in 1980 before progressing into clubs the following year. A formative visit to New York in 1984 introduced him to venues including the Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria and Area, bringing him into direct contact with the club culture that surrounded the emergence of House Music.
Those experiences became an important influence on the way he approached DJing after returning to Asia. Over the following decades, his musical range expanded considerably, drawing from House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge and Electronica without restricting his sets to a single direction.
During the 1980s, Brendon worked with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups before taking on residencies at Neo Pharaohs, Venom and NOX during the following decade. He later became a resident at Singapore’s internationally recognised Zouk, where he remained for nine years.
Further residencies included Kyo and CÉ LA VI Rooftop Club & SkyBar at Marina Bay Sands. These long-running positions placed him within several important periods of Singapore’s club history while giving him the opportunity to develop his programming for very different audiences and environments.
His international career has taken him to cities including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taipei, Hanoi and Hong Kong. In June 2010, he also performed at the now-defunct Cielo in New York, one of the city’s respected destinations for underground dance music.
Alongside DJing, Brendon has developed an extensive production catalogue. His original material and remixes have appeared through labels including In The Woods, Los Grandes, Reversoulmusic, Audio Parallax, Hotbox Music, Soul Shift, Defected, Rawjak, Eclesia, Issys Groove, Love International and One With Music.
Production provides another outlet for the musical knowledge accumulated throughout his career. Rather than separating his studio work from his DJing, both draw on the same attention to detail, record knowledge and understanding of how different periods of dance music connect.
His HearThis and Mixcloud archives further demonstrate the breadth of his selection. His sets are known for linking music from different eras while maintaining continuity and avoiding the need to follow short-lived trends.
Nicolas Matar, associated with New York clubs Cielo and Output, has described Brendon as a “taste master” and one of the region’s strongest selectors. That reputation reflects a career built less around hype than around consistency, musical knowledge and decades of experience in front of club audiences.
