Blaze DJ returns with another edition of Ministry of Breaks on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
Originally from Walthamstow in East London, Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer whose career remains closely connected with underground club culture. His musical background reaches across Breaks, Acid, UK Bass, Techno and rave-influenced electronic music, with rhythm and dancefloor structure at the centre of his approach.
A major turning point came in 1987 when he discovered House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1. That record helped spark a long-term interest in House, Acid and the rapidly developing UK rave scene.
By the age of fifteen, Blaze was already performing publicly and building experience through early appearances in Edmonton. Further bookings followed in Birmingham and Faliraki as his involvement in club culture continued to grow.
As part of the original Acid House generation, Blaze DJ experienced the rapid development of UK electronic music first-hand. That background still informs his work today, particularly through the relationship between classic rave energy and contemporary breaks production.
After spending an extended period away from music, he returned with renewed focus on both production and radio. His recent work reflects that return through a steady run of releases connected with the wider breaks and underground bass scene.
Tracks including Control on Dirty Kitchen Rave and I Don’t Know on Solid Breaks Records demonstrate the tougher and more direct side of his production. Ride Da Rhythm and Let It Roll through Ministry of Breaks continue that approach while reinforcing the connection between his radio identity and studio work.
They Call It Music adds another release through his own imprint, giving Blaze greater control over the way his music is presented. Earlier material such as London Bass on ONE7AUDIO and his rework of Jeff Alford’s Home for Industrial Force also form part of a catalogue built around breakbeat rhythm and bass-heavy club music.
Much of his current production sits between 130 and 140 BPM. That range gives him room to move between Breaks, Breakbeat, UK Bass and rave-derived material without reducing his sound to one fixed formula.
Alongside production, his show continues through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station as a platform for underground culture. The programme gives Blaze space to combine new releases, established influences and contemporary bass music within longer-form radio programming.
The project has also developed beyond a single radio show into a wider production and curatorial identity. Through broadcasts, releases and underground-focused programming, he continues to connect the foundations of UK rave culture with the current breaks scene.
Blaze DJ opens Ministry of Breaks 46 with Guau's No More Acid, setting an immediate Breaks direction before Hankook, The Freakazoids and The Incredible Melting Man with Seth Vogt keep the opening section rooted in broken rhythms and rave pressure. Tony Lizana's Old Vibes continues that momentum before Freestylers, Dub Pistols and General Levy bring a more vocal, bass-heavy character through Like We.
DOLT with Ribotrik and Redlight with NOTION push the mix further into contemporary club territory, while The Darrow Chem Syndicate add another tougher breakbeat selection through the Sekret Chadow remix of Saturnalia. GABBY GUNN's Mount Etna and Danvers' Locker 83 broaden the middle section with darker electronic textures before Nitro begins a more pronounced acid-driven run.
SeekFlow's Acid Keys and BowMax's ACID-SELECT strengthen the Acid Breaks character, followed by ADDAMZ and WelderB with Killerblitz as the set becomes increasingly rave-focused. Kid Kenobi's Everbody Still Needs Acid makes that direction explicit, while GODINO and Air Baxx maintain the heavier club energy around it.
Guau returns with Little Bit before joining Bowser on Acid Bits, bringing the mix back to one of its central producers and reinforcing the acid motif that runs across the episode. Tayo and Acid Rockers' remix of Jaydee's Plastic Dreams then reworks a familiar club reference through a breakbeat framework before STICK2BREAKS and KEVINBAZO continue the acid pressure.
Jiro, DJ Hero and Outselect close the programme with another sequence of direct, energetic Breaks selections, keeping the final stretch focused on dance-floor impact rather than easing the tempo. Across Ministry of Breaks 46, he combines Breaks, Acid Breaks, rave-influenced material and bass-heavy club tracks, with the middle and closing sections leaning particularly hard into acid lines and tougher broken-beat production.
