After Hours 442 features Hypnotised at the helm with guest DJ Rick Pier O'Neil joining the programme on Scientific Sound Asia. Hypnotised is a Belgian DJ, producer and label head from Ghent whose musical background developed through the city’s electronic music culture. Early exposure to events such as I Love Techno and 10 Days of Techno helped shape his interest in underground club music and the deeper side of electronic production.
During the early stages of his career, he performed across clubs and events around Ghent while exploring a broad range of electronic styles. Over time, his direction became increasingly focused on deeper Progressive House, melodic material and Techno-influenced rhythms.
That approach has become central to the way Hypnotised constructs both club sets and radio programmes. Longer transitions, gradual changes in intensity and layered melodic structures give his selections room to develop with a strong sense of continuity.
Together with PatriZe, he co-hosts the long-running After Hours radio series. The programme has been broadcast through TM Radio in the United States, Cosmos Radio in Germany and Scientific Sound Asia Radio, connecting their Progressive House selections with listeners across several continents.
The pair also present AH Digital Essentials through Proton Radio, using the programme to highlight music connected with their label and wider artist network. Hypnotised additionally hosts his own monthly Energetic show on Progressive Beats Radio in Germany.
His radio activity has extended further through guest appearances on stations including Ibiza Global Radio, Frisky Radio, DI.FM, Golden Wings Music Radio, Insomnia FM, Groove City Radio, Fnoob Techno Radio, Urgent FM and Ibiza Soul-Radio. These broadcasts have helped maintain his international profile alongside his club and production work.
Hypnotised has performed alongside artists including Marco Bailey, Tom Hades, Purple Disco Machine, Jesse Rose and Nick Bril. His appearances have included Amsterdam Dance Event, Deep on Deck Festival in South Africa, Club NL in Amsterdam, Decadance in Ghent and Zanzibar in South Africa.
In 2015, he co-founded AH Digital with PatriZe and moved further into production. The label became an important outlet for Progressive House and related underground electronic music while also creating a platform for artists connected with the wider After Hours network.
His early releases gained attention on Beatport, with People from the Otherworld reaching number four on the Progressive House releases chart. The title track was later remixed by Rui Da Silva, bringing additional international attention to the project.
Further chart success followed with Infinity, which reached number two in both the Progressive House and Trance release charts and number three in Techno. These results strengthened his profile as a producer while demonstrating the range of influences feeding into his studio work.
In 2016, Hypnotised introduced the Man on the Moon alias as another outlet for electronic material. The project included Sense on Bonzai, while his wider production activity also brought recognition through a Metapop remix competition and exposure through Belgian station Studio Brussel.
His catalogue has since included work through Bonzai Progressive, Green Martian, SLC-6 Music, Pro-B-Tech Music, Stellar Fountain, Vesta Records, Insomniafm and Abstract Space Records. AH Digital remains central to his activity as a producer, curator and radio host.
After Hours 442 continues the established format with Hypnotised opening the programme before Rick Pier O'Neil takes over as this edition’s guest. The episode maintains the series’ focus on deeper Progressive House and related underground electronic music while bringing an experienced international producer into the second hour.
Guest DJ Rick Pier O Neil (second hour)
This week’s guest for the second hour is Rick Pier O'Neil, also known as RPO, a French DJ, producer and sound engineer with more than three decades of experience in electronic music. He began DJing at the age of fourteen and had established his first studio by sixteen, setting the foundation for a long career in production and club music.
His early productions included Sequential, Chocho Loco, Tribal Nation and In De Ghetto. These releases helped establish his name in France and opened the door to wider work with major record companies.
Rick later worked with labels including Sony Music, Universal, Motown and Polygram. His production and remix catalogue also includes work connected with artists such as Kool & the Gang and Stevie Wonder, demonstrating the range of his studio background beyond the underground club scene.
As House Music expanded internationally, he began building a stronger presence in the United States. One of his early releases there reached number five on the Billboard chart, adding another international milestone to his growing career.
His direction gradually moved towards darker, deeper and more tribal electronic music. That shift led him to establish RPO Records and GARBAGE Records, giving him independent platforms for the underground material he wanted to develop.
The approach quickly found support among prominent DJs, with Rick’s productions appearing in sets by Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed and Steve Lawler. His music also featured on recognised compilation series including Global Underground and Amnesia, helping his productions reach club audiences internationally.
Rick later relocated to Barcelona, where he continued developing as both a producer and DJ. His time there included a residency at Amnesia and early involvement with Frisky Radio, extending his profile through both club performances and online broadcasting.
His career eventually brought him to Mexico City, where he continued producing, performing and maintaining his extensive label activity. The move added another chapter to a career already shaped by work across France, Spain, the United States and the wider international electronic scene.
Across his various projects and aliases, Rick has built a catalogue running into hundreds of tracks. His production work has moved through Progressive House, Techno, tribal rhythms and darker underground electronic styles while retaining the strong rhythmic character associated with the RPO name.
That longevity has also allowed him to work with a wide range of vocalists, musicians and fellow producers. Rather than remaining tied to the sound of one period, he has repeatedly adapted his studio work while preserving the deeper and more driving elements at the centre of his identity.
Hypnotised opens After Hours 442 with Allan McLoud before Airwave's re-invented version of "Trilogique" establishes a broad Progressive House foundation. Richard Harrington's remix of D.J. MacIntyre and Hypnotised then adds a more personal connection to the set, followed by OIBAF&WALLEN and the Nosh & SJ remix of Cris Rosales.
Gaston Ponte's treatment of Nico Cerban keeps the first hour deep and atmospheric before Orgymu5ik shifts the texture with "Soul". Subandrio's remix of Dimuth K and Shannon Davin then increases the rhythmic tension, while Dmitry Molosh closes Hypnotised's hour with a deeper, more hypnotic interpretation of Fran&Co.
Rick Pier O'Neil takes over the second hour with two of his own productions before DJ San's remix of "Dark Subtitution" introduces a more forceful progressive drive. Fuenka and Ormus keep the pressure rising, while an unidentified Rick Pier O'Neil and DJ San collaboration remains exactly as supplied rather than being guessed.
D-Formation and Rick Pier O'Neil's remix of Dmitry Molosh pushes the set into a darker and more muscular phase before Dosem adds a polished Melodic House and Techno edge. D-Nox with K.A.L.I.L. then reinforce the club-focused momentum before Ormus returns in an RPO remix.
Rick Pier O'Neil's remix of DJ San and his closing treatment of Julian Nates finish the programme with a strong progressive-house focus and a more driving late-set energy. Across the two hours, Hypnotised and Rick Pier O'Neil blend deep Progressive House, melodic club music and darker progressive textures into a steadily intensifying session.
