Joshua announces track-list for new shows 28th of September 2020

DJ Joshua presented Floating Beats 449 and Velvety Elements 022 on Scientific Sound Asia on 28 September 2020. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Portuguese music enthusiast DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, is known for his love of music and extensive collection. Originally from Evora, Portugal, his collection focuses predominantly on electronic music and includes House, Drum and Bass, Chill-out and Techno.

His weekly show Floating Beats gives him space to explore progressive, mellow, melodic and Techno sounds. In the second hour, Velvety Elements focuses exclusively on the gentler aspects of house music.

Beginning his career as a DJ in the early nineties, he experimented with his first mixes and developed a passion for collecting vinyl records. He started on local radio programmes, played a wide range of electronic music genres, organised events with friends and recognised radio's value as Portugal's rave culture grew.

After the birth of his daughter, Joshua stepped back from the music scene. A few years later, his love of music led him to launch a new radio show, Floating Beats Sessions.

His Floating Beats podcast is broadcast on radio stations around the world, and he characterises the show as follows: 'Music is a form of art that blends different elements to stir emotions and make the body groove... It's a realm where you can immerse yourself in drifting sounds that eventually resonate with you... Enjoy!' This description sets out his interest in music that connects atmosphere, rhythm and feeling.

Joshua started Velvety Elements from a love of House music and a wish to celebrate the genre's emotional complexity. Through his podcasts, he explores its nuances and has secured a place on international House and Techno radio stations, including Scientific Sound Asia.

His regular broadcasts draw on House Music and Techno subgenres including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, Vocal House and Melodic Techno. The two programmes give those interests distinct spaces, with Floating Beats taking the first hour and Velvety Elements following in the second.

In the first hour, Floating Beats 449 opens with Danny Tenaglia's Dibiza in Metodi Hristov's remix on House Of House, establishing a House Music foundation. Sasse's 1983, the Beat Those Drums Mix on Moodmusic, then raises the pressure through Peak Time Techno.

Sascha Dive's SQ8, reworked by Reboot for Deep Vibes, brings the opening sequence back towards House Music. Silicone Soul featuring Franklin Fuentes follows with Fahrenheit 625, before Archie Hamilton's Can't Be Serious on MicroHertz and La Fleur's Aphelion on Power Plant Records introduce Deep House detail.

Acid Arab's Club DZ on Crammed adds an Electronica turn to the first hour. Collective Machine's For The Night on De-Noize Records moves into Deep Tech House, while Danny Tenaglia returns with Don't Turn Your Back, his Paradise Mix for Hot Creations.

Franklyn Watts and Dread MC's Dance On Me leads into Underground Sound Of Lisbon's Music So Good on Kaos Records. Frink closes the Floating Beats hour with Trumble on Time Has Changed Records, giving the programme a firmer Tech House finish.

In the second hour, Velvety Elements 022 begins with Sunday Brunch's Midsummer Night on SVEK, a Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) selection. Vick Lavender's Odessey 51 (Sophisticado Time Traveler Mix) then softens the transition into the warmer programme.

Rimbaudian's Let Me Beat U on Meda Fury moves the second hour into Deep House. Sy Sez and Ayaba Poetic's Love Light Dancing on Ocha Mzansi and Denney and James Dexter's Lucid Dreams on Rebellion hold that deeper house focus.

Fred P's Vibes on Kwench Records returns to House Music before De La Swing's Guru on Sanity brings back Deep Tech House. Sllash and Doppe's I Want You Too on Great Stuff Recordings and Darius Syrossian's Alex Ranerro remix of The Renegade on VIVa MUSiC keep the second hour poised between those two approaches.

Phaze Dee's Moving on Nite Grooves and JR From Dallas's Detailed Remix of Sweet Melody on Piston Recordings close the deeper house run. Chymera's Orlando Voorn remix of Valerian on Triangle.Records supplies the final Peak Time Techno lift, ending Velvety Elements with a direct club-focused edge.
