Uncharted Frequency has published the tracklist for its latest biweekly show on Scientific Sound Asia. The programme brings experimental and underground electronic music from across the world to the station’s international audience.
Scientific Sound Asia Radio is an English-language underground electronic music station serving China, Vietnam, Malaysia, India and the wider Asian region. The platform also operates as a promoter, music news publisher and international DJ agency.
Uncharted Frequency is a collaborative programme created by Shayekh Mohammad Arif, also known as Dr Moonstruck, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Hersiaz Hazi in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The show provides a meeting point for experimental and underground sounds from different countries and musical communities.
Dr Moonstruck hosts this edition of the programme and presents his latest selection for Scientific Sound Asia. The Dhaka-based DJ and producer is also active as a composer, sound collector and audiovisual new-media artist.
His productions draw from industrial music, noise-based experimentation and avant-garde electronics. Much of his work examines modern society, political structures, collective behaviour, individual identity and the wider music and cultural industries.
Site-specific recordings frequently form the foundation of his interactive audiovisual performances. These works combine sound, visual material and live performance to respond directly to particular locations and environments.
Dr Moonstruck is an active member of Bangladesh’s contemporary arts community and performs as a solo experimental electronic musician and in various collaborative formations. His appearances have included Birmingham Weekender, Transforming Narratives, LEV Helmond Festival and the MoTplus sound exhibition in Vietnam.
He serves as the artistic director of Half Moon Collectives in Dhaka and has worked as a resident artist with Delta Tribe Dhaka. He has also contributed as a sound artist with Soul City Arts in the United Kingdom.
His music has appeared through eleven international record labels, while his collaborative work has connected him with artists from Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Russia, Mexico, Algeria, Germany, Iran and the United States. These international projects reflect the broad experimental and cross-cultural approach that defines his artistic practice.
One of the significant moments in his career was performing at Birmingham Repertory Theatre as a research and development fellow with Transforming Narratives. The initiative was supported by Arts Council England and the British Council and brought together artists exploring connections between Birmingham, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
He has also presented work at the Knights of the Raj launch and exhibition opening at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. During the performance, he combined electronic composition with live instrumentalists before a large audience.
Dr Moonstruck has performed at more than thirty-five events, including Shakti Peak Festival in Nepal, BUKAN Night at the British Council, the Knights of the Raj afterparty, StartUP Dhaka, DUNMUN Fest and ATYA Festival. His appearances span experimental arts programmes, festivals, cultural events and underground electronic music showcases.
Colours FM in Dhaka selected him as its Artist of the Month, while his sound works have been featured on more than fifty international radio programmes. He has also been invited by over twenty-five radio stations to present experimental music showcases to audiences around the world.
This edition of Uncharted Frequency offers another opportunity to explore Dr Moonstruck’s approach to experimental sound, audiovisual practice and unconventional electronic composition. The full tracklist appears below.
Dr Moonstruck opens Uncharted Frequency 02 with his own track “DrumBoir,” establishing a Melodic House and Techno foundation. High On Mars, Robert Babicz, SYML and James Monro then move the programme firmly into Progressive House, with remixes from Bardeeya, Morttagua and Sasha adding distinct melodic interpretations.
The energy rises through Luminary’s “Amsterdam” in its Grum remix and Lumisade’s “Street Lights,” bringing a clear Trance influence into the mix. Between them, Games introduces a more psychedelic techno direction with Smilk’s remix of “Maxi Basshead.”
Tinlicker and Run Rivers return the set to progressive territory with “Lost,” before Dirty Vegas and CamelPhat introduce a direct House Music element through “Days Go By.” Morttagua, Volen Sentir and Hot Tuneik continue the gradual development with detailed arrangements, rolling percussion and expansive melodic passages.
Khainz and Max Blade maintain the late-stage momentum before Beat Bizarre brings in Psytrance with “Medisto Fuzz.” Dr. B and Billy Alex close the episode with two final progressive house selections, ending Uncharted Frequency 02 on a controlled blend of melody, rhythm and psychedelic influence.
