Scientific Sound Asia Presents JFB – 3x World DMC Champion in Ho Chi Minh City

Event Details

This event took place at Happy Life 185, 185 Đề Thám, Phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, Quận 1, Ho Chi Minh City, from 9 PM on 24 October 2025 until 4 AM on 25 October 2025. Scientific Sound Asia presented JFB, the three-time World DMC Champion, for his first performance in Vietnam and a night built around turntablism, Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks and Drum and Bass.

The appearance came directly after the 2025 DMC World Finals in Tokyo, where JFB had performed as one of the event’s special guest artists. The Tokyo competition marked the first DMC World Final ever held in Asia, bringing the championships to Japan forty years after the competition began in London in 1985.

That connection gave the Ho Chi Minh City date particular relevance for turntablism followers who had been watching the championship season unfold. Less than two weeks after the Tokyo finals, JFB brought the same battle-level technique and performance mentality into a much smaller District 1 club environment.

JFB had already established an exceptional DMC record during the 2021 championship season. He won the DMC World DJ Championship, became the first DMC World Beat Juggling Champion, and took the DMC World DJ Team Championship alongside DJ Angelo as The BREXecutioners.

Those three victories explain the three-time World DMC Champion billing used for the Saigon event. They also added to an earlier competition career that had already established JFB as a formidable British turntablist long before his world-title breakthrough.

His style combines competition-level scratching and beat juggling with the ability to maintain the energy of a normal club set. Rather than separating technical routines from party music, JFB can move between Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks, Dubstep, bass music and Drum and Bass while keeping turntablism at the centre of the performance.

That balance has made him particularly effective outside formal battle environments. A technically difficult scratch routine can lead directly into a bass-heavy transition or familiar Funk break, allowing specialist DJ technique to work for a crowd that may not necessarily follow competitive turntablism.

JFB was no stranger to Scientific Sound Asia audiences by 2025 because the organisation had previously brought him to Ho Chi Minh City in 2018. His earlier appearance at Arcan placed him alongside DJ Psycho-UK and Swing Master J for a night that combined turntablism, Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks and Drum and Bass.

The return seven years later showed how much his competition career had developed in the intervening period. The Arcan appearance had featured an established UK scratch DJ and three-time UK DMC Champion, while the Happy Life 185 booking presented an artist who had subsequently added three world championships to his record.

Support came from DJ Psycho-UK, reconnecting two DJs whose musical backgrounds overlap strongly around Hip Hop, breaks and bass culture. DJ Psycho-UK kept the programme moving through the night and provided continuity between JFB’s first Scientific Sound Asia appearance and his return to Vietnam.

His own background developed from East London Hip Hop before expanding through Acid House, Hardcore, Jungle and Drum and Bass. That mixture made him a natural support choice for a headline artist whose sets similarly move between classic DJ culture and heavier contemporary club music.

The night also connected several strands of Scientific Sound Asia’s history within one booking. Turntablism, Hip Hop and Funk represented the platform’s early DJ influences, while Drum and Bass and bass music connected directly with its long-running live event programme in Vietnam.

Happy Life 185 provided a more central District 1 setting than many of Scientific Sound Asia’s contemporary events in Thảo Điền. Running until 4 AM, the event gave JFB and DJ Psycho-UK a full club-night format rather than reducing the headline performance to a short technical showcase.

Tickets were released in three advance tiers, starting at 150,000 VND for Super Early Bird, followed by 300,000 VND Standard Early Bird and 450,000 VND Standard Entry. The Super Early Bird and Standard Early Bird allocations sold out, while the original event listing stated that admission on the door would be priced higher.

Scientific Sound Asia’s wider activity connects events like this through its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. JFB’s return represented a particularly strong link between those different strands because his music crosses the Hip Hop, turntablism and bass cultures that have all appeared throughout the organisation’s history.

For audiences unable to attend the DMC World Finals in Tokyo, the Happy Life 185 event provided a rare opportunity to experience a recent World Champion at close range. JFB and DJ Psycho-UK brought championship-level technique, scratch culture, Hip Hop foundations and bass-heavy club music together for a seven-hour session in central Ho Chi Minh City.
