Scientific Sound Asia presented the third edition of Our House with the Winter Tales Edition at The Lab - Shots & More in District 1. The event continued the series’ straightforward formula of free entry, upfront House Music and selectors connected with Ho Chi Minh City and the wider UK underground scene.
The Winter Tales Edition followed the earlier Spooky Edition and Laboratory Edition while keeping House Music at the centre of the programme. Rather than relying on an elaborate theme, the third event concentrated on Deep House, Tech House and fresh UK-influenced records for a relaxed but energetic night.
The Lab - Shots & More provided a familiar setting for Scientific Sound Asia events during this period. Its laboratory-inspired interior, multiple floors, bars and rooftop gave guests space to move between dancing, drinks and more relaxed areas during the evening.
Free entry remained an important part of the Our House concept and made the event accessible to people discovering the series for the first time. Guests were simply encouraged to arrive with a positive attitude and spend the night exploring different sides of underground House Music.
The musical direction moved principally through Deep House and Tech House. Fresh records from the UK House scene provided another strand, connecting the night with music circulating beyond Vietnam while maintaining a consistent dancefloor focus.
The third edition was built around two DJs with strong connections to Britain and Vietnam. DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia, while DJ Snuck returned from the United Kingdom with a selection of contemporary House cuts for the Saigon crowd.
DJ Psycho-UK brought Deep House and Tech House to the Winter Tales Edition. His appearance continued his role in the Our House series while connecting the event directly with Scientific Sound Asia’s wider radio, agency and promotional activity.
His DJ background began in East London and stretches across Hip Hop, Acid House, Hardcore, Jungle, Drum and Bass and House. That broad history gave him a substantial record-collecting foundation, although Our House was deliberately used as an outlet for the deeper and more groove-driven side of his musical range.
House Music had been part of his background since the period when imported American records and the developing British Acid House scene were reshaping underground nightlife in the United Kingdom. Later involvement with rave, pirate radio and warehouse events broadened that experience into Hardcore, Jungle and Drum and Bass without replacing the House influences that came before them.
After becoming based in Vietnam, DJ Psycho-UK played across a variety of Ho Chi Minh City venues and events while developing Scientific Sound Asia. His work increasingly connected DJ performances with broadcasting, event organisation and artist representation across the region.
For the Winter Tales Edition, the focus returned specifically to deeper House grooves and Tech House rhythms. This gave the set a more concentrated identity than events where his selections moved between several unrelated areas of underground music.
DJ Snuck provided the second major musical perspective of the night following a period back in the United Kingdom. His return to Vietnam brought with it a collection of fresh cuts from the contemporary UK House Music scene.
That connection was useful for a series explicitly interested in upfront music rather than relying only on established favourites. New records arriving from the UK gave the night a more immediate link with current club selections circulating through British House events at the time.
DJ Snuck’s contribution complemented DJ Psycho-UK without simply duplicating the same set. Both drew from British House culture, but the combination allowed deeper and tech-led material to sit alongside newer records and alternative interpretations of the genre.
The relatively compact line-up also gave both selectors more room to develop their sets. Instead of dividing the night between numerous short appearances, the Winter Tales Edition could allow longer transitions between deeper opening material and more energetic records later in the evening.
That approach suited the identity Scientific Sound Asia had established for Our House. The series was not built around major headline bookings but around DJs capable of working through several related areas of House Music over the course of a night.
The first edition had introduced the concept through a Halloween theme at Nymphes, complete with spooky names, costumes and a prize for the best-dressed guest. The second moved to The Lab for the Laboratory Edition, where DJ Psycho-UK, Scott Matthew, Snookie and Al Loudvoic covered Deep House, Tech House, G-House and UK-influenced selections.
Winter Tales continued that development by simplifying the line-up while retaining the musical foundations established at the earlier events. Each edition could have its own character without losing the House Music identity that linked the series together.
The Lab’s rooftop and multi-level arrangement also suited this less formal approach to club programming. Guests did not have to remain in one room throughout the evening and could move between the music, bars and quieter social spaces as the night developed.
That flexibility separated Our House from a more rigid nightclub format where the DJ booth and dancefloor dominated the entire venue. The music remained the central reason for the event, but the surrounding environment allowed it to operate equally well as a social gathering.
House itself provided enough variety to support this approach without requiring a shift into unrelated genres. Deep House could establish a warmer opening mood before Tech House introduced stronger percussion, heavier basslines and a more direct late-night rhythm.
The UK influence added another dimension because British House culture had absorbed elements from Garage, rave, bass music and several generations of club production. Fresh UK selections could therefore change the character of the set while still fitting naturally within the broader Our House programme.
Scientific Sound Asia used the series as one part of a much wider underground music programme in Ho Chi Minh City. During the same period, its activity included Hip Hop events, Drum and Bass sessions, international guests and radio broadcasts alongside dedicated House nights such as this one.
That history remains connected through the organisation’s current events, radio station, DJ agency and music news sections. The current site describes Scientific Sound Asia as an electronic music radio station, DJ agency and events promoter based in Ho Chi Minh City and broadcasting internationally.
DJ Psycho-UK’s continuing connection with both the organisation and Ho Chi Minh City’s club scene is also documented through his Resident Advisor artist archive. The profile lists Vietnam as his base and The Lab Shots and More among the clubs where he appeared most frequently, reinforcing the venue’s place within this period of Scientific Sound Asia activity.
The former The Lab - Shots & More therefore played a recurring role rather than hosting only a single Scientific Sound Asia party. Hip-Hop Don’t Stop and Our House both used the venue, demonstrating how the same space could accommodate different parts of the organisation’s musical programme.
The Winter Tales Edition kept the third Our House deliberately uncomplicated. DJ Psycho-UK supplied Deep House and Tech House, DJ Snuck brought fresh material back from the UK, and free entry gave Ho Chi Minh City another opportunity to spend a night centred entirely on House Music.
The original date and running time were not included in the surviving copy supplied for this archive restoration, and I could not verify them reliably from available public listings. Rather than invent those details, this version preserves the confirmed venue, edition, artists and musical direction while leaving unsupported scheduling information out.
