Graham Gold presented Esta La Musica 305 for Scientific Sound Asia in 2019, with the edition’s tracklist documented below. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news outlet, connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
At the time, Esta La Musica was Gold’s weekly radio programme and a forum for the club music he was playing. The title came from a tattoo he received while performing in Los Angeles in 1999, linking the programme to a personal marker from his international career.
Gold’s early interest in Afrocentric music led him and a friend to establish The Funky Road Show in West London during the early 1970s. By the age of eighteen, he was playing Black music five nights a week in London, building experience across a broad range of dancefloor settings.
From 1980 to 1990, he held a six-night-a-week residency at Gulliver’s Club in Mayfair. That decade-long role formed an important part of his local reputation before his work reached wider radio and club audiences.
During the 1980s, Gold worked independently on several London pirate radio stations, playing Reggae, Soul, Disco and Jazz Funk. He later joined the Radio London Soul Night Out team and hosted a Saturday-night Soul programme on Capital FM, receiving the station’s Broadcaster of the Year award in 1985.
His profile expanded with appearances on Kiss 100 and through the Peach club nights in London. These platforms brought his programming to an international audience and established a prominent phase of his broadcasting and club work.
Gold was included in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs for eight consecutive years, a record associated with his wider influence on club culture. His career has also taken him to more than 150 cities in over 40 countries, including appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Gatecrasher, God’s Kitchen and Street Parade.
Alongside DJing and broadcasting, Gold has worked as a producer and compilation curator, selling more than 700,000 compilation albums. Those releases earned six Gold and four Silver BPI certifications, adding a commercial dimension to a career rooted in radio and clubs.
Gold is based in Thailand and performs regularly in Bangkok, Pattaya and Koh Phangan, while retaining links with London through Peach. His 2025 appearance at Retro Mountain added another later reference point to his connection with electronic music audiences across Asia.
