DJ Joshua publishes his tracklist for Velvety Elements 339

Velvety Elements 339 welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been involved with electronic music since the 1990s, developing his knowledge through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and later digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, providing the foundation for decades of DJing, radio, event organisation and production.

That experience shapes the identity of Velvety Elements, where Joshua concentrates on the warmer, soulful and groove-led side of his collection. Smooth pacing, subtle rhythmic movement and measured transitions give individual tracks room to develop while maintaining continuity across each session.

Joshua’s early involvement with Portugal’s underground scene included local radio, DJing, event organisation, collaborations and support for other artists. After stepping away from regular musical activity to concentrate on family life, he eventually returned through Floating Beats and gradually rebuilt his presence in radio.

Velvety Elements developed during that renewed period as a dedicated outlet for the softer and more soulful side of his musical identity. The programme places greater emphasis on groove, melody and depth while retaining the patient pacing that runs through Joshua’s wider work.

His studio output as Joshua Marian reflects much of that direction, focusing on warmer rhythms, melodic detail and smoother arrangements. Soul Zone and Love My Soul on Bassment Tapes sit alongside Tengo Rojo and Restless Lips within that side of his catalogue.

How to Play Guitar on JFLM Recordings develops the melodic character of the Joshua Marian project further. Always On My Mind and I Can Go, You Can See on 14th Level Of Paradise continue the deeper, groove-focused approach that connects naturally with the character of Velvety Elements.

Joshua also records as K Joshua, using the alias for more hypnotic, spacious, dub-influenced and experimental ideas. Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid, As You Are on Liberty Rhythm and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records illustrate that more abstract side of his production work.

Working under separate identities gives Joshua room to explore contrasting studio ideas without forcing them into the same framework. Joshua Marian carries much of the warmer and more melodic material, while K Joshua provides space for deeper, dub-influenced and experimental productions.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his productions and collaborative projects. The label gives him greater control over how new material is presented while providing a dedicated home for music connected with the different sides of his studio activity.

That production work feeds naturally back into his radio programmes and broadens the perspective behind each edition. Velvety Elements 339 continues the series with another carefully paced selection shaped by Joshua’s long-standing connection with groove, melody and deeper electronic music.

DJ Joshua opens Velvety Elements 339 with Stablematic's Cryogenic and Deebop's Feelin' Good, establishing a warm Deep House foundation from the outset. Borrowed Identity and Mechanical Soul Brother then shift the set into House Music with Ruhephase In D-Moll, adding a firmer rhythmic edge before the deeper flow resumes.

Jimpster's Far Side and Franck Roger's Canyon's Talk bring the episode back into a smoother, groove-led stretch, followed by Jazir's Keep Going. Joshua Marian's Tengo Rojo then provides another House-focused turn, breaking up the run of deeper selections without disrupting the overall pace.

DJ Sneak's What You Expecting From Me and Mick Jerome's C'Mon return the programme to Deep House, keeping the middle and latter section rooted in stripped-back club grooves. Delicious Inc.'s Back To Roots follows with another House selection, giving the closing third a slightly more direct and classic feel.

Inland Knights introduce Funky House with the Greenbay Jackers Go Figure Mix of Figure It Out, adding a looser and more playful groove near the end. Jay Tripwire closes the episode with The Count, bringing in the set's only Tech House selection and finishing on a tighter, more driving rhythm.

Across twelve tracks, Velvety Elements 339 remains centred on Deep House while House Music provides regular contrast throughout the sequence. Funky House and Tech House appear only in the closing stages, giving DJ Joshua a clear progression from deeper textures into a slightly more energetic finish.

Listen to the live radio broadcast on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026, between 6 and 8 p.m. Indochina Time. If you happen to miss it, you can catch a replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. ICT.
