Floating Beats 767 welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running electronic music series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.
Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been involved with electronic music since the mid-1990s, developing his knowledge through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and later digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, giving him a broad musical foundation built across several decades.
Joshua’s early involvement included DJing, record collecting, local radio and participation in Portugal’s developing rave scene. He also remained active through event organisation, collaborations and support for local artists before stepping away from regular musical activity to concentrate on family life.
His eventual return led to Floating Beats, which became an outlet for deeper, progressive and hypnotic underground electronic music. Joshua builds each edition around atmosphere, careful pacing and gradual development, allowing individual tracks room to unfold while maintaining continuity across the mix.
Alongside broadcasting, Joshua produces under several aliases that allow different areas of his studio work to develop independently. Each project reflects another part of the musical perspective shaped through years of collecting, DJing, radio and production.
As Joshua Fernand, he concentrates largely on contemporary Techno and tougher club-focused material. Releases include Blue River on MixCult Digital alongside Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal through his own JFLM Recordings.
Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records explore darker and more hypnotic territory through repetition, tension and stripped-back rhythmic structures. Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings introduces a more melodic direction, connecting his harder productions with the atmospheric ideas found elsewhere in his catalogue.
The Joshua Marian alias carries much of his warmer and more soulful output, with greater emphasis on groove, melody and smoother rhythmic development. Releases include Soul Zone, Love My Soul, Tengo Rojo, Restless Lips, Always On My Mind and I Can Go, You Can See.
K Joshua provides space for more abstract, hypnotic and experimental material, with dub-influenced textures and spacious arrangements forming part of the project. Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid, As You Are on Liberty Rhythm and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records illustrate that deeper side of his catalogue.
Working through several identities gives Joshua room to explore contrasting ideas without forcing every production into the same framework. Joshua Fernand carries much of the tougher club material, Joshua Marian represents the warmer and more melodic side of his work, while K Joshua provides an outlet for deeper and more experimental productions.
In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his productions and collaborative projects. The label gives him greater control over how new material is presented while providing a dedicated home for music connected with the different sides of his studio activity.
That production work feeds naturally back into his broadcasting and broadens the perspective behind Floating Beats. Episode 767 continues the series with carefully paced underground electronic music shaped by decades of listening and Joshua’s continuing interest in new records, production techniques and ideas.
DJ Joshua opens Floating Beats 767 with Dunes Of Dawn's Prosperity Room, establishing the raw and hypnotic pull of Deep Techno before Mitya Coach raises the pressure with I Have My Feet. Yuuki Hori's Ghost Note then shifts into Deep Tech House, giving the early section a more stripped and groove-focused character.
Nuno Dos Santos' Homing and Rocco Rodamaal's House Jam bring the episode into House Music, opening the rhythm after the darker first three tracks. Audio Junkies and Sahar Z's remix of Charlie May's Apache follows with the first Progressive House selection, adding a broader melodic sweep to the middle of the programme.
DCLVIII OFC's Fusion introduces Melodic House and Techno before Joshua Onairam returns the set to Progressive House with Playing with Clouds. HECK's 2 A.M. then brings Deep Tech House back into focus, tightening the groove before Koichi Sugimoto's Shuffle restores the raw, hypnotic Techno character heard at the opening.
Antony Dupont pushes the closing stretch into Peak Time Techno with My Transmission, adding another surge of club-focused energy. Gregor Tresher closes with Concrete Echoes, bringing the programme back towards melodic territory and giving the final minutes a more expansive finish.
Across Floating Beats 767, DJ Joshua balances deeper forms of Techno with House, Progressive House, Deep Tech House and Melodic House and Techno rather than allowing one style to dominate. The twelve-track session shifts naturally between raw pressure, warmer grooves and melodic passages while retaining a coherent underground character throughout.
Tune in to his live radio show on Monday, November 2nd, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't catch the live broadcast, you can listen to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
