DJ Joshua publishes his tracklist for Velvety Elements 338

Velvety Elements 338 welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been involved with electronic music since the 1990s, developing his knowledge through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and later digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, providing the foundation for decades of DJing, radio, event organisation and production.

That experience shapes the identity of Velvety Elements, where Joshua concentrates on the warmer, soulful and groove-led side of his collection. Smooth pacing, subtle rhythmic movement and measured transitions give individual tracks room to develop while maintaining continuity across the session.

Joshua’s early involvement with Portugal’s underground scene included local radio, DJing, event organisation, collaborations and support for other artists. After stepping away from regular musical activity to concentrate on family life, he eventually returned through Floating Beats and gradually rebuilt his presence in radio.

Velvety Elements developed during that renewed period as a dedicated outlet for a softer and more soulful side of his musical identity. The programme places greater emphasis on groove, melody and depth while retaining the patient pacing that runs through Joshua’s wider work.

His studio output as Joshua Marian reflects much of that direction, focusing on warmer rhythms, melodic detail and smoother arrangements. Soul Zone and Love My Soul on Bassment Tapes sit alongside Tengo Rojo and Restless Lips on 659 Records within that side of his catalogue.

How to Play Guitar on JFLM Recordings develops the melodic character of the Joshua Marian project further. Always On My Mind and I Can Go, You Can See on 14th Level Of Paradise continue the deeper, groove-focused approach that connects naturally with the character of Velvety Elements.

Joshua also records as K Joshua, using the alias for more hypnotic, spacious, dub-influenced and experimental ideas. Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid, As You Are on Liberty Rhythm and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records illustrate that more abstract side of his production work.

Working under separate identities gives Joshua room to explore contrasting studio ideas without forcing them into the same framework. Joshua Marian carries much of the warmer and more melodic material, while K Joshua provides space for deeper, dub-influenced and experimental productions.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his productions and collaborative projects. The label gives him greater control over how new material is presented while providing a dedicated home for music connected with the different sides of his studio activity.

That production work feeds naturally back into his radio programmes and broadens the perspective behind each edition. Velvety Elements 338 continues the series with another carefully paced selection shaped by Joshua’s long-standing connection with groove, melody and deeper electronic music.

DJ Joshua opens Velvety Elements 338 with Desos' Farmand, setting a warm House Music tone before Zoo Brazil shifts the session into Deep House with New One. Carlosthings follows with Suavemente, keeping the opening stretch smooth and understated before Intr0beatz restores a straighter house groove through Biltong Bump.

Deebop, K Pod and Manuel Kane then settle the programme into a long Deep House run, with Make Up Your Mind, Big Pimpin and Want Your Love maintaining a restrained and groove-led character. Joshua Marian continues that direction with Yeah Babe, giving the middle of the set a particularly consistent and cohesive flow.

D'Julz follows with Chaplin Bong, keeping the focus on deeper club rhythms before Eva Lansberg's Snowy London brings the selection back into House. The shift adds a little extra lift late in the programme while preserving the warmer character that defines the episode.

Franck Roger's Paint It Black returns the set to Deep House for the penultimate track, extending the deep and soulful feel before Julius Strieder closes with Sunset People. That final selection introduces Organic House, giving the episode a softer and more melodic finish.

Across Velvety Elements 338, DJ Joshua keeps Deep House firmly at the centre while using Organic and House Music songs as carefully placed variations. The result is a warm, understated session built around steady grooves, subtle transitions and a smooth progression from start to finish.

Listen to the live radio broadcast on Tuesday, October 27th, 2026, between 6 and 8 p.m. Indochina Time. If you happen to miss it, you can catch a replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. ICT.
