Velvety Elements returns with a new edition hosted by DJ Joshua on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has remained deeply connected to electronic music culture since the 1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture, shaping an approach grounded in both experience and musical curiosity.

Although his journey has moved through techno, drum and bass and chillout, house music continues to sit at the centre of his artistic identity. His sets focus on groove, soul and emotional depth, maintaining a clear connection between classic house traditions and more contemporary electronic influences.

During quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, he remained active through event organisation and collaborations with fellow artists, helping sustain local electronic music culture while strengthening his role within the community.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed direction through his online radio show Floating Beats. The series evolved into a recognised platform for melodic and forward-thinking electronic music, allowing him to further develop a structured and immersive approach to DJing.

Velvety Elements later emerged as a complementary project focused on deeper and more soulful interpretations of house music. The house music radio show explores warm textures, flowing arrangements and understated groove, reflecting a more introspective and refined side of his musical identity.

Working across aliases including K Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand and Joshua Onairam, he continues exploring multiple creative directions. Each alias highlights a different aspect of his sound, ranging from groove-led deep house to hypnotic techno and more cinematic electronic compositions.

Recent new music releases under the Joshua Marian alias continue reinforcing his connection to Deep House. Tracks such as Just Love, Express Your Voice, Ring For More and Go Slow combine rolling grooves with restrained melodic phrasing and balanced rhythmic structure. Releases on labels including Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda reflect a consistent focus on atmosphere, flow and musical subtlety.

In contrast, his K-Joshua productions move further into darker and more experimental territory. Projects such as Promised Work on Kopoc and Stranger Things on dublucid explore Raw / Deep / Hypnotic Techno and dub-influenced sound design through repetition, texture and immersive atmosphere. Releases including Slow Laziness and Walk Slow also extend into Minimal / Deep Tech and Ambient directions, highlighting the broader range of his studio work.

In 2024, he launched JFLM Recordings as a platform for his own productions while also supporting underground artists and collaborations. The label continues developing as an independent outlet centred on creative freedom and long-term artistic growth within underground electronic music culture.

Through Velvety Elements, DJ Joshua brings these influences together into a cohesive listening experience. Each episode unfolds as a carefully shaped journey that combines deep house foundations with broader electronic exploration while maintaining a clear emphasis on groove, atmosphere and emotional connection.

Stablematic opens the session with Cryogenic, setting a warm Deep House atmosphere before Deebop continues the groove through Feelin' Good. Borrowed Identity alongside Mechanical Soul Brother introduces a more classic House rhythm with Ruhephase In D-Moll, balancing deeper textures with laid-back club energy.

Jimpster’s Far Side and Franck Roger’s Canyon’s Talk deepen the mix's underground feel, both driven by smooth percussion and soulful melodic layers. Jazir continues the flowing Deep House direction through Keep Going, maintaining a relaxed but groove-focused atmosphere.

Joshua Marian introduces his own production, Tengo Rojo, adding another warm Deep House moment with subtle rhythmic progression. DJ Sneak follows with What You Expecting From Me, bringing a slightly tougher Chicago-inspired House Music groove into the session while keeping the overall flow smooth and understated.

The final section moves through Mick Jerome’s C'Mon and Delicious Inc.’s Back To Roots, where House rhythms and classic underground influences remain central. Inland Knights shift the energy toward Jackin House through Figure It Out in the Greenbay Jackers remix before Jay Tripwire closes the episode with The Count, ending the session with a deeper Tech House groove and a stripped-back late-night atmosphere.

Listen to his live radio show on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss it, the replay will be accessible on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
