Bicycle Corporation has announced that guest DJ Brendon P will headline their upcoming 'Roots' 97 show. Scientific Sound Asia Radio functions as an underground radio station, music news publisher, promoter, and DJ agency, catering to the Asian Region and beyond, while also reaching out to international audiences.

Bicycle Corporation comprises the Italian duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who is also known as 6884. They have gained renown for their diverse catalogue, boasting over 50 releases spanning multiple genres including Techno, Deep House, House, Melodic, and French House.

In the early nineties, Marco began his career by delving into the House Music and Techno scene, working as a crew member for events like 'Urban People.' His growing involvement in the music industry boosted his reputation, establishing him as a prominent figure across Italy. However, Marco's journey extended beyond his homeland. Building on his domestic achievements, he quickly gained international acclaim, securing performances around the globe.

Originating from Torino, Italy, Stefano showed musical talent from a young age. With a deep passion for music, he spent much of his free time honing his skills. Stefano's musical journey encompassed various pursuits, including studying classical piano and percussion and mastering the drums. He particularly admired Chopin's compositions and the complex rhythms of the West African Djembe.

Among Stefano's exploration of different music genres, one passion stood out: the captivating world of DJing. From his teenage years, Stefano was enthralled by the art of spinning records. The pulsating beats and rhythms from the turntables had a unique appeal, especially given their rarity on Italian radio stations at the time.

For many, the idea of creating and performing such sounds, let alone sharing them with audiences, might have seemed like an unreachable dream. However, Stefano was not deterred, driven by a vision he was determined to achieve. With Marco's support and their shared dedication, commitment, and persistence, Bicycle Corporation was born, embodying the duo's relentless pursuit of their musical dreams.

Even amidst their current success, Marco and Stefano maintain a connection to their humble origins. Recently, they've revisited some of their earlier tracks, reflecting their gratitude for the musical journey they've undertaken. Additionally, they've established a Bandcamp page to distribute these tracks, providing fans with an opportunity to reconnect with the duo's beginnings.

DJ Brendon P, also known by his real name Brendon Perera, hails from Singapore and embodies a subtle, lo-fi approach to his artistry. With a career spanning nearly four decades and continuously evolving, Brendon boasts a wealth of experience within the club and music scene.

Brendon began his career in 1980 on the local mobile circuit and moved to clubs the next year. However, a pivotal trip to New York in 1984 significantly influenced his musical path.

While in New York, he explored legendary clubs such as the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and the Area. This deep dive into the vibrant New York club scene and the emerging house music movement made a profound and lasting impact on him.

Throughout his extensive DJ career, spanning an array of musical genres including House, Techno, Disco, Nu-Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, Brendon P has graced both local and international events. With roots firmly planted in the club scene since the 1980s, he has honed his skills, cultivating a discerning ear and an enduring passion for dance music.

Brendon P's distinguished career includes residencies with prominent groups such as Juliana’s and Bacchus in the '90s, along with performances with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX during the same era. He notably enjoyed a significant 9-year residency at the iconic Zouk Club in Singapore.

Furthermore, from July 2001 to May 2009, Brendon held a 2-year residency at Kyo and played a crucial role as part of the Residents team at the prestigious CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands for 4 and a half years.

Brendon continues to be a key figure in the local and international club scene today. His DJ sets have mesmerized audiences in cities worldwide, including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, Hong Kong, and more.

Brendon also had the honour of performing at the prestigious (and now defunct) Cielo Club in New York in June 2010. Furthermore, as a producer in his own right, Brendon has released original tracks and remixes on esteemed labels such as In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), and various others.

Brendon's unwavering dedication to musical style, sophistication, and meticulous attention to detail has earned him immense praise. Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York's renowned venues 'Cielo' and 'Output', lauds him as a 'taste master' and one of the top DJs in the region. Bicycle Corporation welcome guest DJ Brendon P for Roots 97, with a selection centred on Nu Disco, Disco House, House and Afro House. David Bowie opens the show with Let's Dance in the Jean Claude Gavri remix, placing the first track inside a disco re-edit context shaped for club use.

Todh Teri’s Sampadan 33 follows, drawing from Deep In India Vol. 9, a release listed across House, Nu-Disco and Disco. Deo Jorge’s Sparking Plugs then appears in the Prins Thomas remix, moving the programme into Indie Dance through Prins Thomas’ leftfield disco and electronic club profile.

Ronny Hammond’s Keep On Groovin’ brings a Funk entry into the early section before Prince’s Cold Coffee & Cocaine appears in the Bruno Bellissimo edit. 8th Wonder’s I'm Not Scared in the Boys Shorts edit and Todh Teri’s Sampadan 31 then return the set to Nu Disco and disco re-edit territory.

Horse Meat Disco and The Phenomenal Handclap Band move the episode into Disco House with Sanctuary in the Ray Mang extended remix. Lazy Wax then shifts into House Music through Santa Catarina, giving the sequence a warmer and more rhythm-led club groove.

In Flagranti’s Regatta brings Citizens Of Vice into the mix, restoring the Nu Disco / Disco thread with a sharper electronic edge. David Joseph’s You Can’t Hide Your Love in the Andy Buchan edit then returns to Disco House through a soul and disco source rebuilt for contemporary dancefloors.

Recut’s Tox Disco keeps the middle section in Disco House, matching its title and Recut Music setting. Kokolo’s How We Gonna Work It Out in the Bosq remix introduces Afro House, adding a stronger global rhythm and Afrobeat-linked colour.
